Currently, existing state laws regarding dog bite injury are far from adequate. Most often, victims of devastating attacks have little or no civil or criminal recourse. We support legislation that amends this injustice, and we support legislation that prevents future dog attack victims from being created.
I am very happy to report that Volusia County, Florida has officially passed the mandatory spay/neutering of cats and dogs as modeled by Los Angeles, CA. I am in tears and overjoyed with this. MOST dog bites occur with UNALTERED dogs-this will help prevent such bites a lot!
What many animal activists seem to not understand is that dangerous dog legislation not only protects children and the elderly (as well as in between), but the dogs themselves-pitbulls are the most abused, tortured dog on earth; victims of animal cruelty and dog fighting, ANY law that would limit their breeding will curtail this. Further, it will also help cut down on dog fighting considerably (pitbulls and rotweillers are dogs of choice). In addition, *irresponsible* owners will have additional charges against them, as it should be. So as an avid animal lover, I 100% support dangerous dog legislation to help protect these animals as it also protects people from vicious attacks. The people who oppose it are only helping to perpetuate animal cruelty-and dog fighting as well. Sad. But I will try to spread the word how dangerous dog laws benefits the animal activist.
You have a VERY important message-I was attacked by a dog when I was 8 years old and I never forgotten it. I've seen news clippings of pitbulls even removing the scalp of children, swallowing it-which the dog's stomach had to be opened to re-attach the scalp to save the child's life. SAD these pits are allowed considering how unpredictable and HORRIBLY DANGEROUS they are-oftentimes children and the elderly are the victims to these monsters.
I thought this was perfect for a Friday... A memorable scene from the classic 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again.'
Clouseau: Does your dog bite? Hotel Clerk: No. Clouseau: [bowing down to pet the dog] Nice doggie. [Dog barks and bites Clouseau in the hand] Clouseau: I thought you said your dog did not bite! Hotel Clerk: That is not my dog.
Wishing...wishing we weren't victims...Victims of careless humans...Humans who made mistakes...Mistakes that can never...Never be taken back...Back to January 1, 2007.
