Dogs on Television is headed for the bright lights. It's a machine that runs on rock n' roll. It's a barbaric yawp that dives into your ear, tickles your brain, stirs your heart, and hits your spine like a lightning bolt. Based in the Boston area, DoTV is committed to bringing an explosive energy to the stage and having as much fun as possible on the way. DoTV howls loud and promises a grand revolution of unbridled rock intensity!
About the band:
James discovered the electric guitar in a haze of teenage angst. It went to college with him, and kept bugging him. "You know I am the only one..." it would whisper at night. Finally, he couldn't put it down. So he decided to play music in bands and write songs. First he was in a band called The Jody Grind. Now he is full-tilt DoTV. His goal as a guitar player is to be exactly like that really drunk guy at the bar, who can barely stand or speak, who then suddenly stands on the table and recites a Dylan Thomas poem verbatim...in perfect cadence, with measured, focused breath. And a blinding intensity of symbiotic bliss envelopes everyone in the room! Or something like that...anyway, you get the idea.
Sam, a self-taught musician, started playing guitar in 6th grade and was comfortable behind a drum kit by high school. He was a guitarist/vocalist for bands in high school, and during and after college. Five years ago there was a calling to the low end and Sam switched to bass. That path led him to become a founding member and bassist of The Pilgrims (rock/jam), Logic (progressive rock) and a member of The Migration (indie rock). He is an avid listener of college radio and finds the mulitple musical styles to be parallel to his many musical influences—including rock, indie, jazz and funk.
Brian has been playing drums since 4th grade (that's 23 or so years for those of you counting at home!!). He's played 'em all since way back then: timpani, marching tenors & snare, drum set. He grew up lovin' the rockin' sounds & complicated styles of Neil Peart, John Bonham & Lars Ulrich. He's played with Back Row Attack / Bonus Round & Sons of Solomon and loves to rip off a jam session with willing folks when he can. Nothing makes him happier these days than sitting down at his new Gretsch set and wailing away with Dogs!!
