Bio
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Since late 2006, these Gold Coast lads have been punching out sets in venues all over S/E Queensland and Northern NSW. Whether it’s heart-felt ballads or catchy rock numbers, Dogtags pride themselves on an entertaining and energetic live show. While spreading their brand of melodic indie rock, they have managed to accumulate a loyal following. .. Their distinctive sound comes from a large melting pot of influences, from Aussie rock icons such as Powderfinger and Jebediah, a dash from roots artists like Xavier Rudd and John Butler Trio and a good helping from the grunge and alternative eras. .. Since their initial conception, Dogtags have supported the likes of.. ..The Fumes, The Beards, The Winnie Coopers, The Vaudeville Smash, Skybombers.. and ..Star Assassin.. as well as sharing the stage with ..Butterfingers, Bodyjar.. and ..Resin Dogs.. at the Loud 08 music festival at Carrara Stadium. .. Some of the venues they've played include Hard Rock Café, Miami Shark Bar, Fisherman's Wharf, Waxy’s Irish Pub, Chophouse, Swell Tavern, The Loft, Brannigans Tavern, Airport Tavern, Palm Beach Hotel, Mermaid Beach Tavern, Pacific Hotel Yamba, The Jubilee Hotel, Fat Louie’s, Gilhooleys Albert Street, The Hive & The Sands Tavern. .. 2009 saw Dogtags let loose off the chain, being included on two compilations by Starving Kids Records, “Live at the Hive” and “Have You Heard Volume 5”. They also competed in the final of the Loud 09 band comp at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, where only 11 bands from over 120 (from Brissie, Gold Coast & Sunny Coast) made it through to play alongside the likes of ..Mammal, Pez & 360.. and ..The Funkoars... .. They are currently working on new material to record an EP to be released later in the year. In the meantime do yourself a favour and go check them out because Dogtags are a unique live experience that you won’t forget. ..
