Do i smell Cupcakes? - Is the subtle question of a yellow cartoon hero. Five young men from the far east of Germany formed the question about cupcakes to a band name in 2005 and have been creating since then elegiac, anthem-like rock-pop sound that is groovy and playful and takes the listeners to spherical frontiers. The distinctive voice of the frontman and singer Kevin Traeger makes any concert hall flourish. Touring through clubs and all sorts of venues, Do i smell cupcakes? not only paint their city Berlin red, but also serve even higher purposes. They represented their foundation-town Cottbus in the German Israeli music exchange ILAND2009 in Tel Aviv and opened the 19th Festival of East European Cinema, accompanied by the philharmonic orchestra of the state theatre. On 20th January 2012, their long-awaited debut album SPRINGS will be released and available in the record stores. The sound is created by the five main-instruments piano, guitar, base, drums and trumpet and enriched by a string quartet, brass section and vocal harmonies. The variations in the songs, as well as the catchy melodies and sophisticated arrangements make this band a great German discovery. /// Fünf junge Männer aus dem äußersten Osten Deutschlands machten sich Do i smell Cupcakes? - die subtile Frage einer gelben Comicfigur - im Jahr 2005 zu eigen und kreieren seither ihren elegisch-hymnischen Rock-Popsound, der mal groovig-verspielt und auf den Punkt daherkommt, aber den Zuhörer auch in sphärische Weiten mitnimmt und somit der weichen, unverwechselbaren Stimme Kevin Traegers den nötigen Raum zur Entfaltung bietet. Im Herbst 2009 vertraten die Cupcakes ihre Heimatstadt Cottbus beim deutsch-israelischen Musikaustausch Iland2009 in Tel Aviv, an dem auch internationale Acts wie die 17 Hippies und MookE teilnahmen. Kaum wieder in ihrer Heimat angekommen, eröffneten sie das 19.FilmFestival des Osteuropäischen Films mit dem Philharmonischen Orchesters des Staatstheater Cottbus und stellten den Facettenreichtum ihrer Musik nachdrücklich unter Beweis. Am 20.01.2012 wird die langersehnte Debüt-LP SPRINGS endlich in den Plattenläden erscheinen. Getragen wird das erste Album der Wahlberliner von tiefgehenden Songs, aber auch facettenreiche, dynamische Kompositionen mit tollen Bläser- und Streichersätzen machen den Facettenreichtum des Albums aus.
