Do-It-Yourself Drums® is the brainchild of Larry Cox, drummer for the heavy metal band Deaf Symphony-- .
This standout concept was designed by Larry with a two-part structure. Part one is a comprehensive drum set instructional system. Part two is the Musician-Producer Series, which is a complete solution for other musicians, songwriters, producers, etc., who are looking for studio-quality drum tracks without the session drummer price tag.
The instructional system features a three-level series, with eight supplemental programs — and more on the way! The system has an incredibly low cost structure that makes it affordable for everyone. Not only is the pricing amazing, but the purchase alternatives provide the most flexible options available on the market. According to Larry, "When I sat down to design this, I wanted to come up with a killer comprehensive program that everyone could afford, and actually learn from. I don't know how many times over the years I have heard student drummers say that watching famous drummers' videos, that mostly did nothing but showcase their incredible abilities, were fascinating to watch, but only discouraged them — feeling like they would never be able to play like that. I also wanted to utilize the latest technology available to provide the most numerous purchase options over any other product."
The Musician-Producer Series is twofold — a combination of pre-recorded drums, and the option of custom drums-for-hire (Digi-Traks--). Clients may choose from an extensive library of drum loops, samples, and complete drum tracks recorded by Larry. These pre-recorded sounds come in a variety of kit tonalities and musical styles. Digi-Traks-- are complete digital drum tracks, recorded by Larry, to fulfill the exact needs of the client. The Musician-Producer Series also features Practice Pal--, a comprehensive practice system that allows musicians to play along with pre-recorded musical arrangements, with and without the presence of their particular instrument — complete with sheet music. All of this comes at amazingly low cost, again with a wide variety of purchase options.
So how can so much variety, quality, and economy be possible you ask? Larry states, "It all boils down to my state-of-the-art audio-visual recording studio. I can record whatever I want, whenever I want, with unlimited time for experimentation — featuring quality sound unrivaled in any commercial studio. I can update my lessons, customize them for a particular student, or set up a live-and-online clinic. If a songwriter e-mails me an MP3 file of guitars, keyboards, and vocals this morning, I can send him/her a finished drum track tonight that he/she can import into their recording software for final mixing. All I have to do is get up from the breakfast bar, walk down the hall, and walk into my studio. That's the key to success for Do-It-Yourself Drums®."
