   Jerrod's Blurbs
About me:
I'm Jerrod. I love the smell of rain. I love the feel of wet grass in-between my toes. I love late night conversations about nothing at all. I love listening to my amp feedback for hours. I love watching little kids run with sparklers. I love the feel of her warm hands running all over me. I love the smell of the ocean. I love comic books. I love Animals. I love restoring old Muscle Cars (currently working on a '69 Corvette Stingray with a Big Block with my Father). I consider myself an activist for Animal Rights (but I hate PETA and the ALF. I do work with Greenpeace, Sea Shepard and the Whaleman Foundation), The Liberation of Tibet from China (I do work with Students for a Free Tibet), The Liberation of Israel to the Palestinians (I do work with the FPA) and Gay Rights. I love making music with my closest friends. I love listening to music and walking through the forest in the middle of the night. I'm a simple person, I like people for who they are not what they can give me. I don't bullshit you, I tell you what's on my mind. I'm quiet, I'm eccentric and over all a bit off. I'm grim and a little bit on the darker side. I play bass for Sturgeon and haven't had this much fun in my life. I'm a shining example of a bookworm. Talk to me, I'm probably bored or working so drop me a line.

You're going to meet the most extraordinary men, the sexiest, brightest, funniest men, and you're going to fall in love with so many of them, and you won't know until the end of your life who your greatest friends were or your greatest love was.

This is Chrissy, she's my loving and wonderful gal. She gives soft kisses and her hands are warm and loving; having them run up and down my back is Cloud 9 for me. She always smells like gum and her kisses taste like candy. She's got the cutest laugh. Her eyes are a perfect brown, warming everything in her sunny gaze. He nose is so cute; I take it from her constantly. I love this girl; more than anything, more than any of you could comprehend. She's the reason I can stand getting up every day. She's my Panda, My Bear, My Cuddle Buddy for Life. She's MY Chrissy and I love her Bunches.

I know it's cliche but first and foremost my friends are my heroes. They take care of me and put up with my shit. They keep me going when I feel like giving up. My friends all have my heart.

Mike Anderson: This kid is Just Awesome. When I feel shitty he gives me it straight in a very down-to-earth tone. If it wasn't for this kid I wouldn't be pushing the envelope every day to become a better person as well as a musician.

Blake: I love this kid. We may not hang out much outside of the band but his genuine enthusiasm just creates a feel good atmosphere. This kid is better than any therapist.

Tony Mack: This kid is pretty awesome. Very laid back, 100% drama free and would never lie to me even if he was paid. This kid is the most generous and giving person I've met to this day and having him around brightens my day.

Justin Cameron: This kid is pretty much the shit. I've known him since I was about 7. He may be a hardass and a little full of himself but he balances me out and keeps me in check when I take shit too far.

Shawn Delehanty: He may not know it but he really does make my day pretty awesome. He can always revert things to something ridiculous and he can force you to smile no matter the situation. This kid is 100% grade-A Magic.

Chumble: He's just Chumble. Need I say more?

Josh W: This kid is family. He can be a bit much at times but he's fucking real and a blast to be around. I can't tell you how many good times I've had with this kid. He's juggalo family and we've been through quite a bit of shit together. Friends may be friends but Family IS Family. Wicked Clowns till we're dead in the Ground.

Tahra: Who else would keep me from snapping in Zoology class? She's the only person I know who I can actually talk to about soccer and Doctor Who in the same conversation. She's a whorefaced freak but you gotta love her for it. ..

“Believe in yourself. Believe in your own potential for greatness. Believe that you can change the world. It is something that is within each of us.” Evan Tanner

Photobucket Mastodon: Their music captures a sense of adventure that I've only experienced when reading Conan or Moby Dick; Vivid illustration through lyrics and brilliant soundscapes created by layered guitars and brilliantly paced drums. They make innovative music and still avoid being pretentious twats like most of the Progressive Music Scene.

Yes, I can give you an example.

When a journalist publishes a story about a couple of people who blew up a tank on a bridge in Iraq, killing two soldiers, they leave out specific information. Leaving out that kind of information is passive voice, because the journalist left our specifics. Whereas, the journalist reporting WHO the two soldiers were, and where in Iraq, along with other specifics would make the report in active voice.

We did an exercise last year in AP 11 that had us, with a partner, write one paragraph entirely in passive and one paragraph entirely in active. It's rather difficult.

An excellent source to look up the how-dos and Purdue Online Writing Lab.

http://owl.english.purdue.edu/

It helps a lot with set-up, and word choice.

If you ever need help, I'd be glad to help you. I'm an English nut.

I agree, Thoreau does not dress up anything he writes, everything is straightforward. He's sophisticated in his own way, and obviously, portrays his passion through his work. His work can be a bit tedious though; like I said, it's very heavy and requires absolute focus.

I do -like- some American literature, whether it be John Steinbeck, or H.P. Lovecraft. (Although The Grapes of Wrath was less than desirable.) If you get some time, you should definitely try and read some Steinbeck, his dry, sarcastic sense of humor might catch your fancy. Kurt Vonnegut as well, if you haven't already read anything by him. (Which I'm sure you have.)

And a tip for AP 12 essays; be sure you know what active and passive person are. You may not discuss it in the class, but it'll surely boost your essay grades and abilities.

Henry David Thoreau is influential, which is all I can really say. Personally, I enjoyed Emerson much more, which is odd, I know. Emerson was extremely influenced by Thoreau, but his language usage was less drone and heavy. Lovecraft is good, I will agree, however, Fitzgerald and Hemingway. Ughhhh. I hated The Great Gatsby, and dreaded reading Hemingway for Honors 9. Granted, reading one book doesn't necessarily give one the amount of information to adequately rate and author's abilities.

When I say British Literature, I hardly mean any of what you might read in that class. I'm partial to Victorian Literature, really. And not Jane Austen, either.

And don't take this offensively, these are only personal opinions. It's impressive you know who these authors actually are, most people just don't care.

I would've been in AP 12 as well, but the AP classes study the same things as the regular classes, the class is just more in depth.

I rather dislike American literature, actually. There are very few American authors that aren't modern that I actually find interesting.

MMM. George Orwell, The Iliad was interesting, to say the least. I haven't read Don Quixote either, I'll have to go pick it up. British Literature happens to be my favorite kind of literature, so I'd probably enjoy it.
