   Doktor Snake's Blurbs
About me:
Voodoo SpellbookDoktor Snake is a practitioner of Hoodoo. He is also a poet and guitar player. Doktor Snake grew up in London. Although a white man, he learnt Hoodoo from the late Earl Marlowe, a Trinidadian singer whom Snake played guitar in a band with during the early to mid-1980s. These experiences are chronicled in his book, Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook, published by St Martin's Press in the US and Connections in the UK.

Today the Snake divides his time between London, LA, and his country retreat on the Eastside of Paradise, where he cannot be reached by phone, fax or e-mail. Only true hoodoos know how to reach him there. Doktor Snake walks on the edge of forever and always pays heed to his dreams.

Snakeman Live
For public engagements, Doktor Snake appears in a wide-brimmed hat and shades, wears a silver snake ring, and smokes the occasional Cuban cigar. He has a case full of Hoodoo potions, roots, herbs, and powders. And makes up mojos and other charms for people who need help in matters of love, money, and health.

He also tells fortunes using his classic Jack Daniel's playing card deck. In between dispensing Hoodoo potions and advice, Snake plays deep blues and rock riffs on an electric guitar, plugged through a Vox busking amp. A hunting knife is wedged under the strings to raise them for the Snakeman's speciality - soulful and haunting bottleneck (slide) guitar.

Did You Know?
Every year on Halloween night Doktor Snake entertains six of his ancestors, whose ghosts dine and drink dark rum with him.

This is true, ive even read baout it in some books, how some new agers and modern day magicians think that just because your an atheist your floating in a sea of energy and can be hit by anything whether it be as big as a ship or just a glacier. Almost like atheists are blind to certain things. Which lavey proved to be wrong. He understood how to work with energy and he didnt beleive in higher or lower powers.

Oh definately, he showed it through his work. His work is very interesting because it seems like he wants to frighten the masses to either challenge and shock them into thinking for themselves for once or to provide material to the people he deemed as strong. If a fundementalist christian were to read his work they wouldnt understand it or they would think of it as wrong right off the bat. The same goes for any one who is so religious they cant see past the dogma. Yeah even in his works he was talking about treating others decently and going along with the flow of nature in the most primal way so he wasnt saying "Do whatever you want and destroy everything in your path." He was just saying get rid of what doesnt serve you, do unto others as they do unto you, and be the master of your own life. yeah, humanity would definately treat everything a whole lot better if they understood the philosphy of humanism and of just listening to the animalistic primal parts of our self that we so often ignore in search for "enlightenment. becuase in the end we are no different from anyone or anything else we are just animals. Personaly what do you beleive about human nature and life as we know it? I got some snippits of it but ive always been curiouse especialy since we bagan having this conversation.

Yes im very familiar with Anton, Ive read "The Satanic Bible" and his book of Satanic Rituals. Ive even talked to Stanton Lavey. Im very familiar with his work. I got introduced to it through a friend and yes I have to say that alot of what he has to say, even if many people dont want to beleive or hear it is very true.

Ah I see, yeah from what I read about the movie I can see some of the paths that could be taken. Personaly I think that politicaly correct is just an illusion built by humanity to try and ward off any chaos brought on by anyone or anything. I dont really beleive in being politicaly correct because I dont think it goes with human nature and not only that but no matter what you say it can always be taken in another direction. For example, I learned that its not politicaly correct in the gay community to say that someone is straight acting because it gives off a hint somewhere to someone that doing that is better than an effeminate gay man. I can see the reason behind this but at the same time it also kind of defeats the purpose of calling really effeminate men Queens. Its all either a double standard or its hypocritical to some point.
what do you think about being politicaly correct?

Interesting. Well I honestly havent seen the movie so im reading up on it now as we speak so I can get an idea of what ideas youd like to take from the movie and add into your book. Well when you release another ill definately have to get and study it.
So whats it like to live in the UK? How is the UK?

Well yes - maybe you know a band called "Exhuma" - they have a cd rereleased in HMV somewhere. Also, didn't the creator of the blues sell his soul to legba at the crossroads in exchange for the ability to play the guitar.
Now that really would be cool
