De tweede band voor vanavond kwam all the way from Brug(h)e. Een vijftal dat zich vooral laat opmerken door hun ‘Psychedelic’ kantje en duidelijk flirten met Jim Morisson en zijn Doors.
Dollarqueen bestaat uit Fillip (Fluppe) Bohyn wiens met zijn stem toch herinneringen oproept aan Jim. Hij wordt bijgestaan door Koen Schaballin op gitaar, Bart Van Acker aan de Keyboards en een rhythmsectie die bestaat uit Danny De Geldere op bass en Dave (niet van) Eecklo op de drums.
Hun setje voor internationale roem bestaat uit ‘No More Tomorrow’, Schoolgirl Fool’, Rock ’n Roll Star’, ‘Shotgun’ en ‘Love To Lick’. Op hun ‘My Space’ kan je ‘Schoolgirl’ en No More Tomorrow gaan beluisteren en zo hoor je meteen wat deze mannen uit Vlaanderen in hun mars hebben.
Voor de Limburgers die deze avond aan de radio zaten gekluisterd nog dit…wil je meer van dat… dan moet je op 06 februari naar cafe De Steppe afzakken in St Truiden want daar gaan deze heren volledig uit de bol gaan en je een avond vol Flower Power bezorgen. Dollarqueen staat ook op het programma tijdens de New Years’ Swing Night bij onze Delirium vrienden in Handzame en in april trekken zij weliswaar op tour door Portugal.
Goede act en deze dollarqueen(s) durven al eens uit een vakje te komen om hun ding te doen wat alleen maar aangemoedigd kan worden...
The name DOLLARQUEEN means nothing more and nothing less than “prostitute”. The guys of Dollarqueen met at the end of 2007 somewhere in a Red Light area. Nobody knows exactly how it all happened but fact is they just did it and here they are.
You can say 'faith' brought these 5 men together. Each musician already earned his stripes & reputation in previous bands.
Their music varies from melancholic to raw and edgy and back to subtle again. The songs are about the real things in life covering sadness, excitement and everything in between. The vocals of Filip are the finishing touch to the trademark sound of the band. Sometimes you will think you are listening to the Blasters. Then again the Hammond recalls the sound of The Doors. All in all they just got that southern roadmovie sound which will take you back to the 70’s sounds with psychedelic edges and a unique catchy feel.
Live they’re all about pure passion and drive. You might think their lives depend on it. You will also feel their respect for all those who once were significant in the rockscene and still are today. They all echo in the music of Dollarqueen. You’ll get what you see: it’s real, pure and on top of it all they’ll give you the real, honest rock ‘n roll vibes just like it should be!
