Doll By Doll (1978 - 1982), a controversial live act at odds with the cartoon violence of punk, made five critically acclaimed (or loathed) albums (one unreleased, all not available on WEA) before accepting they just weren't meant for those times, and regretfully going their separate ways.
Their albums have recently been rereleased on rhino label, after a battle by jackie leven, who is now a soloist and has released numerous albums on the cooking vinyl label.

Hey there, thanks for the add!I ordered all 3 remastered/reissues,and have been listening to them over and over...it sounds all too familiar, even though these albums were recorded almost 30 years ago...like the liner notes suggest, these recordings are truly timeless classics, and certainly have brought back many memories of living and growing up in England, and working with the band way back when in the late 70s...I wonder if anyone reading this, saw any of those shows, might have some photos to share...specifically the black and white lines? Well folks, time to be off on my way in search of greener pastures,so take care,be safe, and God bless you all...Peace,Ray Watkowski

I estimate I saw Doll by Doll about 55 times, and the reunion gigs I saw in London and Northampton in 1995 with Jackie, Joe and Dave with Kevin Foster on bass were rather good..
Also remember Robin and especially remember the late great Tony Waite.. K x
Thanks for wanting to be my friend here..I am a fan of the group and have recently discovered "Gypsy Blood." Fantastic record. Missed it first time around, but it sounds great now.
I'm glad you like the new song. The first rock gig I ever did was at the Oranges and Lemons in Oxford. Just as we got on stage and were about to start playing Doll by Doll walked in the door. Bruce had brought you to see us and after we played our set you left. A couple of weeks later the other guitarist from my band went to see you play somewhere else and was talking to you and he told me that you guys had said that when I could play with my fingers what was in my head I would be one of the best guitarists in the country. It's encouragement like that that keeps you doing what you do and keeps you striving to be better. It seems weird that 30 years later the same thing is happening again. Thanks from way way back. Rob
Appreciate your adding us. Had the privilege of supporting you a couple of times in the late 70s. Never could understand why Doll By Doll weren't massively successful. Rob
