"You have music, shows, girls, friends, places, and interests. The desire to make something out of all of those things has been the common goal of this band since we were 14" Says frontman Wyatt Sheer. "When we first started we were just kids listening to punk and alternative records, bands like The Smiths, The Misfits, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and AFI. We had no clue how to even tune our instruments, let alone write our own material" "Looking back now its hard not to laugh, I am still unaware of how we got here or where this is going to take us. I think that feeling of not knowing what is next has always been what drives us." It is clear that Dollface Divine is taking 2008 by storm. This year has marked the release of their EP 2wenty4ourhours, a full length music video for their first single... May Last Forever, and sold out hometown shows in Pittsburgh. The band is comprised of 5 Pittsburgh teenagers, including founding members Wyatt Sheer, Ben Duty, and Tim Dutkovic along with new guitarist Tim Semega and drummer Brette Ciamarra. "While other kids that I grew up with were going to football games and pep rallies, I was printing flyers, heading to band practice or booking shows." Says guitarist Ben Duty, "High school was our breakthrough into music and becoming musicians. That is how we spent our time." Over the years, Dollface Divine has shared the stage with the likes of Kill Hannah, Hot Water Music, Shiny Toy Guns, Secret Handshake and many others. Their sound, style, and live show has set them apart from the modern lack of enthusiasm and creativity in the music scene. "We seriously listen to everything, alot of dudes say that, but our influences range from Black Flag to Pat Benetar and New Order to Public Enemy." "Our songs play out like one big epic movie" bassist Tim Dutkovic "We write with the intent of replicating our feelings and experiences, whether it be an abstract thought or a real life situation." Dollface Divine mixes giant guitars, thick bass lines, new wave appeal, and oscar wilde type lyrics paired with hormone driven vocals. "We try and tell the story of the underdogs, the outsiders, the guys who did not get the girl or any John Cusack movie from the 80s. I grew up listening to NIN, The Cure, and Morrissey. I believe that those influences are apparent in my lyrics." The members of Dollface have grown up since the basement days. The release of their highly anticipated debut ep "2wenty4ourhours" only marks the beginning for this young band.
This 5 song ep contains is an emotional journey through the experiences and processes of growing up and being a young person in Pittsburgh. With influences ranging from 80's pop in the first hit ...May Last Forever to hints of gritty alternative in ballad Our Universal and traces of modern hardcore in Goodnight Like This, this record has a little bit of something that everyone can enjoy. "We have never concerned ourselves with the limitations set by genre" From sing-alongs and catchy synth hooks to breakdowns and teen angst driven vocals, Dollface Divine aims to spread their vision and sound to many diverse audiences across the globe.
