Dollymops are a 3-piece experimental punk outfit from Lincoln. Blending a vicious mix of trebly riffs and ferocious bass lines, combined with ear bleeding drums, they deliver an unforgettable performance. Live they explode on stage causing an intense mix of energy and power. Their infectious riffs and cutting lyrics, mixed with high vibrato screams create a melting pot of mayhem.
Dollymops consist of two brothers Ric Birtill (guitars, vocals), Jacob Birtill (bass, vocals) and mutual band mate and long time friend Dan Swinburne (drums). Returning from recording an album in Nashville with other band Mr. & Mrs., Ric Birtill wanted to create a second project highlighting some of his more experimental and heavier material.
Joining forces with his brother Jacob and companion Dan, collectively, they have played gigs up and down the country gaining a cult following and a reputation which complements their growing success.
Dollymops have recorded a 5 track EP that has had various airplay including BBC Radio 1’s Steve Lamac show. The song car crash will be the bands first single and will be available along with other merchandise, which can be bought online, or from the bands merch table at one of their up and coming shows.
Dollymops are a truly unique and inspiring act. There a punk-rock racket, impossibly lean and utterly without mercy.
“Suburb, a truly original sound”
Hugh Stevens (radio one introducing)
"Have a listen to the excellent ‘There’s a Car Crash Between Us’ and there’s a high likelihood you’ll get excited"
(Artrocker)

Charlie Parr is from the same Duluth music scene that spawned the likes of Low and Haley Bonar, and his music delves deep into the back roads of American folk music, there’s hints of Robert Johnson, Nick Drake and Will Oldham in his playing, and a true from the heart power and clarity that is simply stunning. This guy is the real thing, and you can hear it in every note he plays, which would also explain why the people at the superb End of the Road festival ask him back every single year!
Neil McSweeney plays beautifully considered and perfectly restrained music that will delight fans of Low, Adrian Crowley, Nina Nastasia, Mark Kozelek, and Jason Molina.
Deftly fingerpicked folk loveliness from a local favourite - Michael Rossiter perfectly executes traditional folk as well as his own material, sings from his heart and gets the perfect sound from his guitar.
you are easily the best live act i've seen i don't know if you remember that gig at the cell that was off the hook its steve from the mark 9s i dont know if you remember me

Easily one of the most important bands of our times (and we don't say that lightly), Stars of the Lid are the highpoint of the ambient genre. Their influence on the music that really matters over the last decade has been huge, and we're incredibly honoured to be hosting them again in Leeds. This gig will be very very different, and very very special. Stars of the Lid have excelled at designing subtle, minimalist epics which sound like they're being played on a single multifaceted organic instrument. A wise man once described SOTL as "divine classical drones without the tedious intrusion of drums, or vocals. "
The Declining Winter is the musical project of Richard Vincent Adams of Leeds UK, the co-founder of the continuing group Hood and a full time stricken office worker. What does it sound like? Richard says "cassette tapes spilling out of the glovebox of a 1970's Datsun Sunny somewhere in the north of England, captured on Super 8 film". He's not far off. Live he is joined by a few more people to bring the beautiful pastoral feel to life. Wonderful stuff.
Golden Diskó Ship combines a mass of instruments and found objects (guitars, viola, glockenspiel, sticky tape, compact disc cases, toys…) together with perfectly crafted laptop electronica to form a world of beautiful, original and individual music - “…dreamy, experimental folk electronica that sounds like walking on the beach with the sun in your eyes."

Hands and Fingers makes minimally gorgeous cerebral music. He mixes samples, acoustic guitars, glockenspiel and ambient atmospheres with drum breaks that have been described as "Tortoise having a fight with Four Tet in the dark, with John Bonham trying to split them up". It's ace. Very ace.
A Forest of Sound presentation. It’s £4 on the door, doors are 8pm.
