Dollyrockers was started in the winter of 2006 by long time friends and musical collaborators Mike Porterfield (Guitar/ Vocals) and Steve Scholtes (Bass) from the seminal Houston punk band Poor Dumb Bastards. The line up was rounded out with the addition of ex” Lima Sugar” guitarist Dave De Vegas , ex” Manhole” and” Come On Come On” Vocalist Alicesin Gibson and ex “Toho Ehio” “I End Result” drummer extraordinaire Seal Feeley. The sound and songs of the band are rooted in a mix of Hard rock, Rockabilly, Punk, Outlaw country and Southern Blues. These varied influences all come together to add color and a unique Texas twist to the songs of this veteran Houston band and reflect their past as well as present musical accomplishments and regional heritage.............................

Funny. The last thing I wrote before this review was something about how little I cared about American Idol starting up again. Albums like this are precisely why. A confluence of '60s Link Wray biker rumble, '70s Deep Purple stoner sneer and '80s Cramps jungle boogie, Hellbound Hoedown is — as Bill Murray may have said once or twice — lean, mean and not too far in between. Try the red-light-district rumba of "Moon and Stars" and see if you're not seduced.
Singer AliceSin Gibson more than makes up in brassy, listen-up-boys charisma whatever she may lack in range — which is not to say she can't hold a tune; imagine Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano the morning after an especially wicked bender — while the four dudes behind her put every Stooges, Social D and AC/DC lesson they ever learned to excellent use. Hellbound Hoedown ain't trying to reinvent the wheel, but if you're in the mood for "Shotgun Shells and Wedding Bells," it'll get you there in a hurry — even if it has to quote The Andy Griffith Show theme song during a guitar solo to do it. Most definitely bad music for bad people, and a helluva 31-minute good time. Suck on that, Simon.

Be fore warned....we are off on Oct. 16th and in the preliminary stage of forming a hillbilly hooligan caravan to come ridin' out of our central TeXXXas studio in the woods to the Trash Bar to experience y'all's sonics in Humble.....if the creeks don't rise. Hope all is well in Dolly-land....gonna be with SABBATH CROW tonight at Beerland in Austin....y'all definitely need to put Sabbath Crow on y'all's radar to experience. Hope to see ya on the 16th.
Respectfully, Leon Psychodaddy Trash Rockets and Sabbath Crow.....and unabashed fan of DollyRockers and Blue Flames/Oil Pan Sluts.
Hey, Thanks for being my MySpace friend! I look forward to meeting and becoming real-life friends in the near future.... Your stage or Mine! (Currently Looking for New Band or Sit-In Work, Keep an Ear Open 4 Me)!
Check out these videos, maybe you know a band that we'd be a good fit!
Hey Buckaroos and Buckarette....what a sonic treat y'all conjured up at Headhunters last Saturday in Austin with the Blue Flames....given the circumstances, y'all simply tore the joint a new one....loved every minute....y'all simply rocked. (Have sent a message to our network of sonic pranksters that y'all are a MUST SEE)....hope we can set up some shows with y'all, Blue Flames, Trash Rockets and Sabbath Crow in the future....just for the sheer sonic terror factor. Told the boys that we need to schedule comin' down to the Trash Bar on the 16th to witness y'all...so far so good. Be great if ya'll could come to Austin to party, chat and raise hell with us at the Austin 420 Magazine Fall Bash (info and line-up below) on Oct. 22nd....gonna be a barn burner. Love to have y'all and hope like hell to make it down to Humble on the 16th. Afraid I'm hooked on y'all's remarkable tunes....just flat out straight up great rock, entertainment and real-deal tune-smithing.
Respectfully, Leon Psychodaddy Trash Rockets & Sabbath Crow ....and fanatical Blue Flames/Oil Pan Sluts psycho.
