Actually just me (see About... playing drums, bass, guitar and keyboards, and singing.
My guests on this project are Tomas Miguens Rijken, Joram Torny, Marianne Verbrugge and Andrea Poorterman on vocals. Additional acoustic guitar has been taken care of by Martijn Koolen, trumpet by Hermine Schneider and E-flat tuba by Tjitze Vogel.
Alex Geurink mastered the recordings with me, at Studio 8.
Influences
One might hear some echoes from Abba, Beatles, U2, Paul Weller, Weather Report, Bach, Motown and Frank Zappa.
Real influences are much more random than that and there's any number of audio earworms - however plain, heartless or braindead - that put their marks on my tracks.
Sounds Like
the album Subject to change contains `14 songs - in various tones, different voices - that emerged while doing the dishes of love and life'.
This description somehow suits both subject-matter and sound: it's a pretty varied lot, with a down-to-earth, traditional popband `line-up': vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic and electric piano, with some assorted extras - nothing too fancy though.
Some listeners more or less definitely heard some Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Steely Dan, John Cale, Prefab Sprout, David Byrne and even The Sound in the songs.
Close to a one-man show, the Dolorama Project has been staged by me, Roeland Dol, editor... hi... I write songs and record them at home, alone usually, but for this project I had some friends to help me, mainly on the vocals - you'll find them listed in the general info section.
September 2, 2007 I have terminated Dolorama Project -a project being temporary - only to make way for Lake 68, a band in and with which I will play some of the Subject to change material. You'll find us on MySpace shortly.
