MIKE DOUGHTY WRITES: I met Sirak and Feven in the northern town of Keren, where they play in the lounge at the Mackerel restaurant. We went into the back of the kitchen and recorded these tunes; you can kind of hear the refrigerators humming.

i grew up ethiopian/eritrean, which means i had to struggle to learn two distinct languages in my house; amharic is the ethiopian language; tigrinia is the eritrean language. anyway, thank you for bringing this culture out, and i hope to hear more from you!
