Dolphintidefan's Interests
|
| General | I like to play with my daughter. She makes a mean cup of pretend tea. She also likes to play basketball on the Little Tikes goal I put up in her room. And, she is totally taken by Strawberry Shortcake. We watch a lot of that at our house. I do take requests to sing the theme song from Strawberry Shortcake every morning on our way to where my daughter stays while we work. "Straw-ba-ba-ba-ba-berry Shortcake!"
I especially love hanging out with my wife. That doesn't happen much anymore, just hanging out that is. But, when we get some down time together, it is the best.
Reading is big, big, big to me. I like to read. From "Alex Cross" murder mysteries by James Patterson to Christian life themes by John Ortberg and others, I like to read. And, most of all, the Bible. As relevant as it is to life today, it is essential for life forever --- gotta have it.
And, perhaps the greatest love of all is Diet Mountain Dew. Man, we love us some Diet Dew at our house. | | Music | | | Television | www.persecutionblog.com | | Heroes | You know, I could be real obvious with this and say, "Jesus", which is true. But, I want to name two others, or describe them without names.
One, and this is a group and not so much individuals I know, but my heroes more and more these days are persecuted Christian believers in China, North Korea, Asia Minor and the Middle East. If you want to see what true heroes do under the worst of circumstances imaginable, check out www.persecution.com.
Second, and this is a friend of mine, is a guy at my church (Junction 242 in Decatur, Alabama) who is basically the vision-guy for our community of Jesus-followers. I won't name him because I wouldn't want to embarrass him but his influence in my life over the past, especially 5 years, is incalculable. I love the guy and his wife and their boys with all my heart and soul, and he's just a hero. |

Dolphintidefan's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm 39: that's my age and if it keeps going, my waist size!
Happily married for, let's see, (one, two, three), oh yeah, 18 years.
Two year old daughter, who rocks.
Jesus-follower, some days better than others on that, but He's faithful.
I'm a lawyer, for what that's worth.
Some of my favorite books of late: "The Barbarian Way" by Erwin McManus; "Christ, the Lord" by Anne Rice; "God is Closer Than You Think" by John Ortberg and "Way of the Master" by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron.
Music? This is going to sound very odd. I LOVE music. But, I don't listen to it, except on rare occasions. In my own personal opinion, nothing decent is getting produced anymore, and you can only listen to classic whatever so much. So, I listen to talk radio .... and that means I must really not like current music since talk radio is just so very, very dull and repetitive. not that the hosts are really bad, but they're all just saying the same thing over and over and over .... Sometimes I really think I'd rather actually listen to Shakira than to hear another caller on a radio talk show say (feigning dumb, deep, slow voice), "I like your show and I agree with most of what you say." Yuck. It just makes my teeth grind sometimes. So, mostly, I don't listen to anything say, in the car, or whatever. I just pray or think or mull-over (no, that's not a hairstyle --- but it should be) or whatever.
And, let's see, TV: I like "24", "Family Guy" and almost any of the "Law & Order" series (I used to hate them, but I kinda got hooked). Did I mention that I like "24"? I don't watch any of the forensic criminology shows because they're pretty stupid, IMHO. I mean, come on, "Bones"? What an unbelievably dumb program. And "CSI - Miami"? Does anybody really think that orange-haired Caruso guy from "NYPD Blue" can actually act? Nope, didn't think so.

Who I'd like to meet:
Basically anybody. Firm believer in WYSIWYG. Also, that God loves us as we are, but loves us too much to leave us that way.
