Frustration. That's what is all about... When i began to play the drums some fifteen years ago, most of the musicians i jammed with most of the time did only expect one thing from my part : to be the timekeeper. Nothing more. Yeah, it's already a lot of work, i know. But from the start, to be locked up in that play wasn't satisfying enough for me. Rhythm is everything. But i always had tons of melodies inside my head. Thus, somehow, it seems it was unbelievable for most of them to imagine that deep inside this (more or less) metronomic organic machine i am supposed to be to satisfy their expectations, their wishes and their needs, there are feelings and ideas i felt the urge to express.
So basically, my first home made record in 2003 was something i needed to do, really. With collected devices and scribbled ideas, the third remaining factor to make it come real was time. And i fearlessly took it.
Since then, many things occured ; concerts, recording albums one after another, and collaborations... Lots of. I played drums and co-wrote material for the alternative rock band DeafDialogue from 2003 to 2005, i produced and co-produced Rhinestone Lives first self-titled album and second recording "Exit Wounds" alongside Ivan Georgiev, i went promoting some of my stuff on stage, i'm the leader of the electric jazz improvisational collective PaNoPTiCoN and went touring for a bunch of twenty dates in less than two years (!!!), i did other dates with the Unity quartet as a jazz standard cover band on drums, and finally i played keyboards and singed for a year within Fungus Imperator...
Service Special is the solo project of Sebastien Schmit (member of K-branding).
