Ce recueil de photographies en noir et blanc et en couleurs présente dix années de recherches sur l’image du jeune artiste Yann Levy (34 ans). Les quelque 200 clichés reflètent son immersion dans les contre-cultures urbaines. On y croise des rappeurs, des graffeurs, des punk rockers, des performeurs (tatoués, piercés), des comédiens « en marge » (compagnies queer/féministes), des militants, des boxeurs, des skinheads antifascistes, bref, les nombreuses tribus de l’underground contemporain.
La spécificité du travail de Yann Levy s’inscrit également dans son rapport à l’altérité. Il porte un regard plein d’empathie sur ceux qui luttent ici et ailleurs pour un monde plus juste : en Israël et en Palestine, en Amérique du Sud, en Inde, etc.
