Not much lately -- liked the one with the big monkey on the building. Seen PHANTASM 111 times or so. I consider Hitchcock the greatest American filmmaker... Obviously your vintage Romero, DePalma, Argento, Carpenter.
THE HITCHER was the last horror movie I wholeheartedly supported. I don't even wholeheartedly support VENGEANCE OF THE DEAD and JIGSAW and I made 'em, but you know, you do what you can. Get those DVDs, and if you don't like them, well hell, maybe your table will be not level at some point and you can stick them under a leg, like my college roommate did with one of those little green bibles people hand out on the street when his fridge wasn't level.
Obviously, I dig your Godfathers, your episode 4, 5, 6 (better they were 1,2,3 and then call it a day), Spielberg in his heyday, The Changeling, JFK, Somewhere in Time, C.C. and Company is the best bad movie ever, Harryhausen, Let's Scare Jessica to Death, King of Comedy is my favorite Scorcese movie (if you don't watch that movie and get scared and think, am I Ruppert?, I don't wanna talk about your alleged movie career with you, and certainly not about MY alleged movie career).
The Film Noir festival at the Egyptian is like my New Year, my calendar runs from it. Sometimes that place is reason enuff to live in Los Angeles -- along with Amoeba. Oh, and the black tar. L.O.L. folks. Hell, just L.O.L. whatever I type.
Oh, and I like a whole lot of other movies, going all the way back to your '30s stuff, you know, whatever's good.
Television
STAR TREK and TWILIGHT ZONE taught me how to write. Those shows are like those four chords that rockers learn. It's all you really need. Lately I dig RESCUE ME most, and AMERICAN CHOPPER. SIMPSONS always. Just watched WHITE SHADOW, season one. Where the Hell is FRIDAY THE 13TH the Series on DVD? I'd give that the horror nod over NIGHT STALKER even, plus I loved Robey. HONEYMOONERS and SEINFELD. THE PRISONER. HILL STREET, HOMICIDE, OZ. TWIN PEAKS -- damn, how was that ever on t.v.? THE OFFICE -- I just SEE that guy, I start laughing. Tried watching MIAMI VICE season one -- you know what, it don't hold up so well. LITTLE HOUSE -- I'm not kidding, gold writing on that show. Watch it, you'll ball your head off. Pa Ingalls never hits anybody twice -- one punch, problem solved.
Books
I used to know how to read. I wrote a novel once -- damn is it hard -- and now I've lost half of it. ANUBIS GATES by Tim Powers, GHOUL by Michael Slade is right up there with RED DRAGON and duh... PSYCHO, CAPTAIN BLOOD by Michael Blodgett (if you can find it, it ain't about pirates), I AM LEGEND, of course. WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP is a great book. Detective fiction I like Hoke Mosely/Willeford, Scudder/Lawrence Block, and Elvis Cole/Robert Crais. Harlan Ellison, Jack Finney, Richard Matheson, Kurt Vonnegut. H.G. Wells (when you're a kid), LORD OF THE RINGS, Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Stephen King, fantasy-wise those AMBER books by Roger Zelazny. I have the novelization of PHANTASM, now that's a trip.
Heroes
Iggy Pop and Jeff Burr. Same as everybody else. Oh yeah, and these guys...
..
About me: I make movies, and when I'm not doing that, I try to do that,
and failing all of that, I try not to blow anything up. It's hard sometimes, but nowhere near as hard as making movies.

Exciting doesn't describe it, Don; seeing my characters on the screen is almost an out of body experience. I look forward to your reaction to Rain's continuing story, as well as those of Harry and Midori. Oh, and feel free to stop by my discussion forum. I believe you'd enjoy meeting the regulars, and I'm sure they'd enjoy meeting you.
Hi Nomad! Wishing you a joyous and abundant holiday season. :) Liz PS I'm celebrating a deal with St. Martin's for my new mystery, Death Will Help You Leave Him, the follow-up to Death Will Get You Sober.
Hey DA just noted that F 13 the Series just got released as a box set in case you're still looking. We're probably one of the few people on the planet that remember the Fenwicks, they stopped in the store somewhere in the 90's. Mitch

BTW, have you seen my website discussion board? It's a fun forum with people from all over the world talking about the Rain Fall movie (recently wrapped shooting in Tokyo and NYC and starring Gary Oldman); the next book, called Fault Line; and writing, politics, single malt whisky, and anything else that strikes people's fancy, with a monthly chat on writing, too. So if you have a chance, stop by and say hello -- it would be good to see you there...
