If you could save a life, would you?
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Recently, three very important bills were passed by the assembly in New Jersey: the New Jersey Hero Act, the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) and the Anatomical Research Recovery Organization Act. This is a very important milestone for New Jersey as the legislation will have a tremendous impact on increasing donation rates throughout the state. These bills are now on Governor Jon S. Corzine’s desk awaiting his signature. We urge you to participate in a letter writing campaign letting Corzine know just how important this legislation is, not only in our efforts, but the thousands of people awaiting a transplant and their families.
IT'S CRITICAL TO ACT ON THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE Tell the Governor you support the bill THIS WEEK while there's still time! Please email Governor Corzine at: www.state.nj.us/governor/govmail.html.
Over 99,000 people are waiting for a transplant in the U.S. Over 4,300 of them are living in NJ. Every day 19 more names are added to the list.
Did you know 7,000 people died last year because they didn't receive an organ in time?
These people didn’t die from an incurable disease. Each one of them could have been saved, if more people made the donor designation.
It's time to take action!
How do I register to be an organ and tissue donor in NJ?
1. YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE is the best way to sign up. EVERY TIME you apply for or renew your license, you'll be asked the question. Visit www.state.nj.us/mvc to find your nearest location.
2. VISIT www.DonateLifeNJ.org to sign up to be notified when our online registry is up and running (hopefully soon!)
3.TELL YOUR FAMILY. While 90% of the U.S. believes donation is a good thing, most families don’t take the time to share their wishes with each other.
4.SPREAD THE WORD. Encourage others to register and save lives, and encourage them to join this group!
