As an avid traveler I've collected my share of hotel toiletries. Many have been donated to those in need, esp in disasters such as Katrina!
I figured that if I've gathered this many bottles of shampoo, lotion, shower gel, conditioner, etc then think of all the other travelers who could be doing the same!
I'm sure every Touring Musician, Athlete, Comedian, Actor/Actress, and Model knows exactly what I'm talking about! All those hotel stays add up! They can definitely be donated to those who truly need them. Women Shelters and Homeless Shelters are always looking for donations! :)
The next time you are Touring or Traveling make sure to grab all the toiletries you can Every Single Night! Even the Complimentary coffee, paper cups, pens and paper, etc can be of use! Hotels really don't mind as long as you leave the towels. :)
Keep everything in a big bag or a large ziploc for donating. Donating the items in individual care baggies is also a great idea!
TIP 1: When hotels change their name they often discard all the toiletries! Keep an eye out for hotels that are moving from one name to another! Getting hotels involved is also a great way to donate in bulk!
TIP 2:Contacting major brands such as Suave, Colgate, etc for sample sizes is another great idea! Cases are often sent to hotels free of charge. I'm sure the same is true for local shelters and food banks!
TIP 3: Requesting free samples from visited websites. Many new products are shipped for free to potential consumers.
TIP 4: Dental visits also provide you with great samples for donating! It's great for getting the kids involved during their 6 month check up!
