Don Ballue recieved his first acustic guitar back in 1969 which was a loaner from his sister Marie, then in 1970 was given his very own acustic guitar by his Mother (Jen) and step father Ardell James. He learned to play by listening to old country records and his own collection of albums of Folk artists
and allso rock albums and using a chord chart learned enough to play in a little Folk group at Dawson Nebraska which started as a project for a Music appreciation class. He sat in with a couple local bands after high school graduation and played some in Kansas for parties befor entering the Army in 1975. When stationed in Berlin Germany befor the wall fell he found himself playing between sets of a friends country band in a little club not far from McNair or Andrews concern. Latter after leaving Berlin for a tour in the States returned to Berlin and found himself playing more on his own for parties and such performing for his units parties both Battalion level and Company level functions. He was honored to get to play a gig at the Officers club just 2 weeks befor his tour ended. He returned to the states to Fort Riley Ks and enjoyed playing around the Manhattan and Fort Riley area until he left the service in 1989. Took 2 years off for medical reasons and after phsical therapy took up his ovation 6 string and has been playing just about any where he could find a place to play. Don enjoyed playing in a country music club for about 5 years at Fallscity Nebraska and now has been playing with an acustic project for fun having jam sessions with Curtis Wayne Stroud and logan Merz at the Peru V.F.W. Hall.,Don has allso taken the stage at Peru State College, where he works as there night security officer. . Dons Manager is his wife Mary Beth and his sound is managed by his daughter Donna, his daughter Julie helps with equipment when on the road.(Yes this is a family project for fun). Don plays an ovation Celebrity guitar and a Fender 12 string and a Takamine G series. Don allways says"' It's all for fun"".
