Don Gallardo & How Far West play music that can be described as Alt-Country. A Country Music that combines: Rock, Folk, Indie, and American Roots all the way down to the last note with lyrics of love, small towns, the lonely highway, everyday life experiences, and making an honest living. Don Gallardo & How Far West have a sound that is familiar but very original where you can sense a wide variety of influences.
For years, Don had been silently flying under the radar in different bands playing Bluegrass, Rock n'Roll, Rock, & Acoustic Solo shows. One of his favorite performances was an acoustic set opening for Rosanne Cash at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco. He drifted around California for years living north of Sacramento (Chico), San Francisco, Los Angeles and now feels like he really did find a home in Nashville.
His new band in Nashville is called HOW FAR WEST. There is a separate music page for that with a link below in the top friends.
How Far West is comprised of Wisconsin born Drummer Tom Reschke who has been playing in the band for a year now. Georgia born Kyler Clark, who lived in Los Angeles for the past 7 years before moving out to Nashville. He is playing Bass and singing backing vocals. Kyler and Don played together for 2 years in Los Angeles. Nashville native, Andrew Sovine plays a mean Lead Guitar with a Mike Campbell-esque attitude and backing vocals. Georgia born, Kyle Everson plays Pedal Steel & Dobro (when he is available). Canadian born Justin Ward plays Banjo, Mandolin, and also fills in on Pedal Steel.
Throughout his career Don has played on the same bill as Yonder Mountain String Band, Peter Rowan, Joe Craven, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Vinyl, Tim Bluhm (of Mother Hips), Legion of Mary (w/ Martin Fiero), Jolie Holland, Molly Hatchet, Rogue Wave, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, & Rosanne Cash (at the legendary Fillmore in SF)
He has written over 300 original songs and has toured from Seattle to San Diego and Los Angeles to Nashville. Don has played on many stages including The Fillmore (SF), The Great American Music Hall(SF), Slims (SF), The Whiskey-A-Go-Go (LA), The Tractor Tavern (Seattle) & The Mount Tabor Theatre (Portland).

REVIEW of New "Regards To The Season" EP.
"Don Gallardo isn't trying to reinvent country. He doesn't have to. He writes a good song. These are songs if I heard them in a bar somewhere on a Friday night I might get a little emotional. There's a feeling when I listen to these songs that wherever I am it's home. These songs are mostly about locations and the weather. It's cold outside right now, and there seems to be a little warm fireplace coming out of my stereo speakers." -Billys Bunker Music Reviews
