Donna Herula is a Chicago born singer and guitarist who plays traditional classic, country and Delta blues. She plays fingerstyle and blues slide guitar on her 1930's Triolian and National Tricone resonator guitars.
In her solo acoustic performances, Donna plays the songs of the early blues women, including Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie, who had once achieved great commercial success in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
In addition to playing songs by female blues artists, she plays traditional roots music by musicians such as Robert Johnson, Robert Nighthawk, Furry Lewis and Blind Blake.
At the 2009 Chicago Blues Festival and also at the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, Arkansas, Donna performed an hour of songs by slide guitar legend Robert Nighthawk, for the Robert Nighthawk Centennial Commemoration.
In addition to the Chicago Blues Festival, Donna has also played at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival (formerly the King Biscuit Blues Festival), the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth, MN, and the Mother's Best Music Festival in Helena, Arkansas.

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
