Hello My Name is Donna Mogavero and I am a singer/songwriter/guitar player professional.
I have been in the music business what seems to be all my life.
For the past 30 years I have been based out of my hometown Columbus Ohio. I have toured and traveled nationally.
I have made my living playing music.
I have three recorded CD's.
My first CD, ACOUSTIC was recorded locally at the wonderful John Schwab Recording Studio in 1994. A nice blend of songs with acoustic guitars, bass and drums. The players are all very dear friends and incredible musicians.
My second CD, Out Of The Nest was recorded in both Nashville and Columbus. This is a fully produced piece of work I am very proud of. Two of the songs from this work, HAVEN & LONG ENOUGH TO FALL IN LOVE were used in a movie titled CLAWED, released on DVD in 2006. Check it out.
My third CD was recorded live at a local club here in town. It is appropriately titled Donna Mogavero LIVE.
All three CD's can be found at www.CDbaby.com.
I play my music on a wonderful Taylor guitar. You can also find me at www.taylorguitar.com. I showcased at the 1999 Nashville NAMM show for Taylor guitar.
I wrote the song and performed in a music video for Experience Columbus in 2004, The Streets Where I Live.
I have several Columbus music awards. Outstanding Vocal Rock and Folk vocalist, Outstanding Acoustic Performer and Outstanding Performer Deserving Wider Recognition.
My second CD, Out Of The Nest did get national recognition and a lot of AAA airplay. The song This House Gets Cold in Winter was aired on The World Cafe with David Dye in 1999.
In February of 2003 I participated in the Columbus Ohio music production video making of The Saturday Night Guitar Pull. This video was recorded at The John Schwab Recording Studio. It features some of Columbus Ohio's best artists. It was filmed by Ozone Studios of Columbus and produced by Jim McKell of Nashville. This was one of three such music productions that Mr.McKell produced. The other two were in Cincinnati and Nashville. Check this piece of work out. www.thesaturdaynightguitarpull.com. You won't be sorry.
I am what they call a local icon in my hometown for I am very active in my community musically and politcally.
I had been a judge for three years for our local news station WSYX channel 6 Gimme The Mic. A local American Idol. I also participated as a judge in Lexington Kentucky for their Pass the Mic.
For the past eight months I have been recuperating from a fall I took off a 32" stage while emceeing a local womens
music festival on June 23, 2006. I broke my hip and pelvic bone. The 8x8 platform was black set up on black asphalt under a tent and had no lighting and no edge tape around the perimeter of the stage. Blinded by stage lights I walked right off the edge.
But to date I am doing great and am back to play all the music I can.
As of 2009... I had a few losses in my life this past year that really made me open my eyes to the preciousness of life and relationships. My dear friend and fabulous musician singer/songwriter Katie Reider passed away in July from a brain tumor.
In December of 08 my right hand man and lead guitar player Rob Brumfiel passed away. So life is too short to mess around and I ain't getting any younger. I take great pleasure in the little things. Walking my dogs, riding my horse, cleaning horse stalls, cleaning my house, playing my guitar , spending time in good company with treasured friends. I live with my 26 year old daughter and that brings me great comfort. I don't need much.
