Louisiana bred and born, this Colorado Springs artist has put his time in on the musical scene, applying his skills to everything from teaching guitar to eager students to regularly performing in front of crowds of 5,000 happy listeners. Donnie has covered all the bases and then some with his exciting original music that he describes as “Alternative Pop.”
“I would describe it as intellectual, edgy, melodic alternative pop,” says Donnie. “I try to infuse as much emotion as I can into my songs, so that hopefully the listeners can feel it, too.”
Indeed, the listeners have felt it. Donnie is a two-time winner of the Track of the Day award at Garageband.com for his songs “Let Me In” and “Time.” And now, with a strong collection of new songs and a sound that Donnie describes as “more lyrically intellectual and harder-edged musically,” Schexnayder is poised to reap even more accolades and awards for all his hard work and talent, not to mention powerful and memorable songs with ironclad melodies and deep hooks to win over even the most fickle music fan.
“I want to create interesting, passionate music that will hopefully connect with people at a deeper level. The more people I can influence, the more of a positive impact I can make on the world around me,” Donnie says.
