About
Donny's Bio:
With a style and feel all his own, it's hard to compare Donny Parenteau to any other currently country music recording artist. His inviting personality is as true on stage as in person. His show is a must see!
Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Donny picked up the fiddle at the age of fifteen. He started performing professionally with Grant and Sean Carson just a short four years later. While touring with Grant he performed across Canada, England, Scotland and Wales. In 1990 he came back to Prince Albert and became a member of the Number One West Show, hosted by Brian Sklar.
In March 1991, he auditioned for and was hired by Neal McCoy, Country Recording Artist, moving from Prince Albert to Nashville, Tennessee. That same year, Donny recorded fiddle and mandolin on his first of many Neal McCoy master sessions, which produced number one hits such as; Wink, No Doubt About It, and The Shake. Donny also appeared in several of Neal McCoy's videos. He worked on other albums with artists such as Doug Stone and Mila Mason.
While employed with Neal McCoy, Donny was able to experience few things that many musicians only dream of, including traveling world-wide, performing several times on the stage at the Grand Ole' Opry, Crook and Chase, Nashville Now, Prime Time Country and appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
He has had the opportunity to perform on the same stage as the following artists; Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain and many more.
Donny retired from Neal McCoy's band in 2002 and returned to his hometown in Canada to pursue his own path in the Country Music Industry.
Donny released his last album, What It Takes, in October 2006. Each of the 12 songs on this full length album was written or co-written by Donny.
