As to inspiration… I gather it from anywhere, anyone, anytime. Sometimes just a picture or a face, a painting or a poem, can inspire a song. Sometimes a song can drop on me as if from nowhere. Friends and loved ones especially are responsible for inspiring most of my music, sometimes I write for the nameless person in the crowed whom we all know. Nature and the human condition inspire me continually, for they are always growing or changing to provide something new to gather from.

I have listened to a wide variety of music, Folk, Pop, Jazz, Rock, Bluegrass, Old Time, Gypsy and Celtic, though the most noticeable influences on my music would be from the 60’s musicians such as the Beatles, (as a group and as individuals), Donovan Leitch, Crosby Stills and Nash, among many others. I also listen to a lot of traditional Irish music, and can play it pretty well too. It was great fun during our tour in Ireland to play it with the local musicians wherever we went.
Donovan is now performing as McCain Pinion McCain. The trio includes Musician/Songwriter Donovan McCain, on mandolin, guitar, and lead vocals, Jesse Pinion, an outstanding guitarist and experienced performer, and Donovan's brother, Conar McCain, holding the group together on bass guitar.
Their first two venues have met with warm reception and they are now booking. Venue dates will be listed so keep an eye out.

Tell your Dad that I meant to reply to an Email he had sent me recently, but my laptop crapped out on me, so I've just bought a new one, and all my Outlook Express Emails are gone.
Many thanks for the friend request, and fine music.
