.......... .... ..Don L Williams began playing guitar in the early 60's, and was influenced by the "British Invasion" and later, the folk movement. This resulted in a very diverse musical palette with a strong inclination toward acoustic music. Guitar and harmonica were his only instruments until the early 80's when he developed an interest in bluegrass music and took up the banjo. He now plays guitar, harmonica, and mandolin, as well as a few others to a lesser extent. .... In the late 1990's he started writing songs, encouraged by a couple of friends who are singer/songwriters. If asked, Don would probably classify himself as a folksinger, although in reality his songs are very eclectic. Most, however, are based what he likes to call "song stories". He has collaborated on songs with local singer/songwriters Joe McClure and Jim Patrick, and Judy Hoover, of the San Antonio based band Restless Wind. He plays local open mics, benefit concerts, songwriter showcases, and other venues around town, "just for fun". He is sometimes joined on stage by friends Joe McClure, and/or Nonie Eakle. In addition to his solo singer/songwriter performances, Don plays mandolin and harmonica with a Praise and Worship band called LightHouse. He wrote and performed two of the songs on their first, self titled CD. He has also played with the local band Mid Life Crisis, and played as an acoustic duo with another local musician, Mike Landis. His first CD of 13 original songs, entitled "Dry Rain and other Southern Folk Tales" was completed in May of 2009. He is joined on the CD by a host of local musicians and friends including Nonie Eakle, Joe McClure, Amy Phillips Laney, Gini Woolfolk, and Jason Ezzell. Don is now working on a second CD....... ..Dry Rain...... .. .. .. .. .. ...... ..Kerrville Storm...... .. .. .. .. .. ...... ..
