    Once in awhile an artist comes along that doesn’t quite fit the mold. Not just another artist shaped from the cookie cutter that the music industry tries to use in shaping musicians to all sound the way the company's AR people think they should. As a result their music is written to please the record company's idea of what will sell. Even the Christian record companies have fallen into this trap. You must have a certain look, or style of music to be what they consider successful. That is, whatever it takes to make them money. Not much room for ministry there. What is success anyway? Is it being able to sell millions of albums, or is it being able to stand before God on judgment day knowing that you fulfilled your calling to serve Him with the talents, and gifts He has given you. Something tells me that a lot of musicians that have sold millions of albums will stand before the Lord on judgment day and God will look at them and say, depart from me, I never knew you. Success in God’s eyes is simply, did you honor Him with the talents He has given you? Have you shared the gospel message, and spoken the truth in that music without compromise, or fear of what the world will think of you? Were you true to His calling, or did you sell out to the music industry machine that says? Walk this way, talk this way, sound this way, and you will be a success! Once in awhile an artist comes along who is not afraid to speak the truth of God’s word in his music. The word of God without compromise. The worship, and praise of the risen Lord Jesus Christ without apology. Don Tipton is one of those artists who lays it all on the line in the lyrics of his songs. Why? It is simple, because Don Tipton is out to please God, and honor Him with the calling He has given him. Not to please man, or the music industry machine. Don Tipton may never sell millions of albums, but when he stands before God on judgment day, he will know that he, as one of God's chosen ones, has faithfully served the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the author and finisher of his faith. Born in southern Ohio, where he learned to play guitar from his Uncle Howard who taught him a few basic guitar chords. Don was brought up in a musical family, that would gather on Saturday nights to play country music on an old front porch. In high school he was introduced to rock music, and started a band with his best friend Al. They were called “The American Destiny”. They mostly played at high school dances and birthday parties. After graduation, Don and Al started a band called “Magic Mountain”. They played in bars and nightclubs around southern Ohio. In 1976 Don and his beautiful wife, and their first child, moved to Detroit, Mi. There they spent the next twenty years, raising four daughters, and serving God by being active in their church worship band. During that time, Don played in several Christian bands. They played at coffee houses, youth meetings, churches, and even opened a few times for some big name Christian acts. Don’s bands played all original material, most of which were written by Don himself. In 1996, Don decided to go solo, and get back to playing acoustic guitar driven songs, as that was where his heart really was at. So he and his wife packed up their things and moved to Nashville, TN. Now thanks to the modern day internet, Don Tipton songs are being heard all over the world. In October of 2005, Don released his first solo album entitled “Holy Fire!”. A few weeks later the first cd that sold was to someone in the United Kingdom through the internet music store called cdbaby. How’s that for reaching out to the world? Contemporary Christian Artist & Songwriter: Don Tipton is the former lead singer for the Christian rock band: "Compassion". He is happily married, and the proud father of four daughters. Originally from Ohio, he spent a number of years in Michigan, during which he was part of the worship team at his church, Macomb Christian Community Center. He now resides in Tennessee. Don is a Christian singer, songwriter, and also plays guitar. He has been a Spirit filled Christian for most of his adult life. His style of music ministers to young, and old a like. His Christian roots go back almost thirty years, since he first came to faith in Christ in April of 1976. He has played in bands since he was in high school. Don grew up in southern Ohio, were he played country music with his family, then he played in the rock bands: American Destiny, & Magic Mountain.
