doodlebug's debut event was in 1994 with dj shadow and dj krush (mo'wax records)...headz session at, the then newly opened sankey's soap.
following this a series of inspiratioanl introductions of new music and spoken word was unleashed onto the unsuspecting manc scene.
during this time doodlebug provided a platfrom for unknown artists suchas as mr. scruff and andy votel to develop and explore their creative practices
international doodlebug day ( 99-06. R.I.P) was its critically acclaimed, annual celebration of graphic illustration. initially held simmultaneously in manchester, london and tokyo IDD nurtured talent the likes of pete fowler and gave rise to the scrawl collective.
doodlebug presents...was given birth in sept '03 with a unique perfomance of the japanese butoh dance artfrom by tokyo artist ken mai.
since then an indescriminate series of presentations at various venues in manchester, london and beyond have inspired many.
it remains a worldclass intimate series of provocative mindfood, with a wonky mix of live music: movement: short films: dramatic extracts juxtaposed debate and sneaky whispers.
