Lord Cabal is part of the italian underground scene since 1993, as a
singer and guitar player, being part of different metal projects with various
influences.
Only in 1999 does he begin dedicating himself to Black Metal, writing some songs
inspired by Baudelaire's "Fleurs du mal", the tracks being of the Raw Black
Metal genre, minimal and no-frills.
The tracks saw the light under the Darkstorm monicker and were well
received by the specialized press, but the production still was a demo, limited
to a few copies.
In 2002 the song were recovered and rearranged with an added gothic influence,
keeping still the dissonant guitars and the speed of the original.
Blackmetal.com published the CD the next year.
The CD, distribuited by Blackmetal.com was, in fact, a split, in which the
tracks of the first demo, known as "6 Tears Of Pleasure" were coupled
with Lord Cabal's second project, "Ringwraith". A mini was released under
this monicker, called "Tales from the Middle Earth", inspired by the
"Lord of the Rings", by J.R.R. Tolkien. Ringrwaith was never supposed to have a
continuation, being a project that was studied to end with that mini. Yet, 2
years later, three unreleased tracks found their place in a split with two other
bands, the Ordre du Temple (Dolcinian) and Teuta (an ex member of Opera IX)
entitled Tripudium, distribuited by Militia Templi Record.
At the same time Blackmetal.com published Doominhated's second work, called "Inferno
Caput Mundi", which contained the concept "The Supreme Race" as well
as four bonus tracks, featuring a new sound, different from the band's
trademark, cleaner and, in some of them, a slower tempo, something that was
never tried before.
Well received by both specialized press and fans, it paved the road for the
third work of 2007, "Doom And Hate", which, in the intentions of Lord
Cabal, should have been the last Doominhated album, considering that the
objectives set at the beginning were all reached and the path had been walked.
The new Doominhated album, out in 2009, titled "Cult of Chaos" is an
important turning point for Lord Cabal's project. There's a new atmosphere in
this disc, yet it is decided to keep the band's name, but to change both the
logo and the graphical presentation (that's why a now closed myspace page
testifies the past, while a new one explains the present). It's not a complete
divorce from Black Metal but much more melodic sound are added, in comparison to
the past, more clean vocals, both male and female (solo and choir), finer
arrangements and a cleaner sound make the listener think about a new band,
instead of an evolution of the past project. The concept hides a different
interpretation of the narrated story but the true meaning of "Cult of Chaos" is
not going to be explained... even though the song titles, the symbols on the
papyrus on the front cover and many references in the album's lyrics are clearly
hinting at its true nature: the tale of the human genesis, far from what
scriptures have told us for centuries. More and more people are researching
these "theories" and in Cult of Chaos one could find explicit references to such
aformentioned theories, mixed with a tale of a Dark Reign and the worshippers of
the Evil, drive by an extreme symphonic metal that often merges with parts of
Gothic and Folk.
