DOOMSAYER is Atlanta, Georgia’s only Metal band with its roots planted firmly in true American Thrash-style Metal. Since 2003, they have graced the stages of most of Atlanta’s and the Southeast Region’s stages both as support for National Acts, and as the headlining talent in their own right.
Originally named ‘Hero and the Terror’ they were founded in 2002 when Mark and Eric, fresh out of local hardcore favorites ‘MFR’, decided to go in a different direction musically. Their sound would not be realized until they happened upon the extraordinary vocal ability and soaring guitar leads of Dickie and Shane who were busy with the band KURTZ at the time. Once all the pieces fell into place, and they finally found Chris, the drummer who could not only understand the direction of the music, but bring it to another level, DOOMSAYER was well on their way to putting together a set that would prove to stand out among the local scene.
Since their beginning, DOOMSAYER has continued to be a part of some of Atlanta’s most successful concerts and events. They were the originators of the ‘Prophecy on Ponce’, an event held on June 6, 2006 (6-6-6), that featured major label acts including MASTODON and KYLESA, multiple venues, and support from renowned sponsors. Their concerts have ranged from packed intimate rooms to mid-size venues hosting national tours like BLEEDING THROUGH and HIMSA that DOOMSAYER was a part of.
This Fall, the band will be hard at work in the studio recording their full-lenght CD and will play a few shows locally to introduce their new material. They are also preparing for their film debut in an upcoming documentary, ‘Slow Southern Steel’ that is being filmed by CT of the band RWAKE (from Arkansas) in conjunction with David Lypke, and Chuck Shaafe (sound). The film is about underground heavy bands south of the mason-dixon. It will have intense live performances from some of the crustiest, doomiest, and most progressive of heavy bands from the south.
With plans for their studio sessions fresh in their minds, it is evident that DOOMSAYER’S ethic of hard work and constant performing will bring forth a catalog of truly crushing and monumental performances.
