Doppelganger began when in mid-March of 2008 Maria João & Duarte met at a party. Duarte was looking for a singer to give voice to his music, while MJ was looking for a new project. They shown their work to each other and realized they could do something unique. Soon after that, D. spoke with André Pintado, an experienced musician with whom D. regularly collaborated. Two weeks later they had the basis for a new album, but the most impressive of it all was the close friendship they formed and the chemistry they have as a band.
