Influences
God!!! My husband, my children, family, pastors (past and present), instructors (past and present), the elderly, and the inner drive to do and be better.
MUSICALLY:
God (He’s the Giver of the gift), music that I grew up with in church, traditional and contemporary gospel, Donnie McClurkin, The Hawkins, Tremaine Hawkins, Andre’ Crouch, Nancy Wilson, R&B (60’s & 70’s), Motown Sound, Philadelphia Sound, Jazz, Jonathan Butler ( I love how he brings gospel into jazz), some go-go, even a little country. I guess I just like GOOD music!
What do I say? I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Hempstead, Long Island until the age of 15 years old and then relocated with my parents to New Bern, NC. It was in North Carolina that I met the love of my life and my future husband, Seth Vail. We will be celebrating 30...yes "30" years of holy matrimony and wedded bliss in 2007 (yes you can stay together that long)! I am the mother of 2 extraordinary daughters and the mema of an incredibly beautiful and gifted grandaughter, who will blow me out the water one day! I love my family. God is so good!
I have an AA degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance and will graduate with a BS degree in Community Health Education in May 2007. I am currently working with the elderly in rehabilitation therapy and I LOVE it! Working with wisdom everyday adds to my life more than I could ever express in words. Those of you who do not have some form of contact with the elderly are doing yourselves a great disservice.
I have also been blessed to sing along with or shared an audience with some of the greatest singers and ministers anywhere! Donnie McClurkin, Alvin Slaughter, Tramaine Hawkins, Vickie Yohe', Tammy Trent, Maurette Brown-Clark, Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Anthony Hamilton, and Andy Williams to name a few. I have also been honored to sing to the world through TBN, the largest Christian broadcasting station on earth! In 2006 I, along with Maurette Brown-Clark and JB Wilkins, were the producers of the HBO series, "The Wire" theme song titled, "Way Down In the Hole". I am one of the founders of the group "DoMaJe" who sang the theme song.
However my greatest audience has been in nursing homes, prisons, bars, clubs, and most of all the bush areas of Africa. To see people who are "looking", "longing", and "lost" accept that Christ really loves them is life to me. I live to find those people, go where they are and have them feel the touch of God through my gift of song. For me singing is an avenue that God uses to physically touch and change lives...something happens when I sing for Him. I'll go anywhere for the One that I love. I also love people and I love to see them happy and living blessed and fulfilled lives. I LOVE to laugh and to make others laugh! I enjoy the life that God has blessed me with on the good days and the not so good days...I am thankful.
So look for me to turn up in the most obscure places singing about the greatest LOVE to be found anywhere! It may be to an audience of one or millions, send me...I'll go.

There comes a time when we hear a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
and it's time to lend a hand to life
There greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of God's great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
it's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Let us realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one
Whatever your cross, Whatever your pain, There will always be sunshine after the rain, Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall; But God's always ready to answer your call, He knows every heartache, sees every tear, A word from His lips can calm every fear, Your sorrows may linger throughout the night, But suddenly vanish by dawn's early light, The Savior is waiting somewhere above, To give you His grace and send you His love.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!
