Dublin band Doris have just finished recording their debut album The Working Title which they intend to release in early 2009.
Originally formed in 2005, the band have seen many changes in their lineup. "Some of our ex-band mates started families and found it difficult tojuggle it all. We are all still on great terms and we're even thinking ofstarting a Doris fans club for tots!", said lead singer Phil Redmond.
Founding members Phil Redmond and bassist Chris McDonnell have used these changes to the band's advantage. Drafting in two new members, childhood friends and former metal enthusiasts, Paul Higgins (lead guitar, keyboards, harmonica, vocals) and Andrew Beatty (Drums) the band have transformed from a simple folk-like outfit to a fully fledged Pop/Rock Band.
Since then, they have had two top 30 singles, with their debut single Will I Ever Learn. entering charts at number 22. They have joined Ireland's top DJs on Spin FM, 2FM, 98fm and Galway Bay FM and got lots of radio play with their singles on all the top radio stations. The band embarked on a national tour in early 2008 playing in every county in Ireland and regularly fill Dublin venues like Whelan's, The Village and Tripod.
Doris have been recently featured on State Magazine's "State Verses The Summer" CD which featured artists like Fight Like Apes, Ham Sandwich, Fred,The Heathers amongst other top Irish acts.
With a growing fanbase and their debut album The Working Titledue for independent release, 2009 looks bright for the Doris lads.
"On the back of two top 30 singles comes Doris' debut album, a classy exercise in adapting alternative influences for a wider audience." State Magazine
