DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES



1) We use adult language because we are adults. This isn't just profanity, but articulate verbiage as well. If you don't like the manner in which we pontificate, fuck off.


2) We will never pander. Simply put, sponsors are nice, but integrity is better. We will NOT hop on the bandwagon just because it is popular to bash something or love it blindly.


3) Opinions are like assholes, we all have one. We will ALWAYS back up our opinions with as much evidence of fact as possible. That being said, if you think we're nuts, call us on it. As long as you have an arguable position, we'll hear it out.

4) Gonzo is GOD. Hunter S. Thompson, Oscar Zeta Acosta, and other pioneers showed us the path. It isn't enough to know that YOSHI is fun to play on the DS; is it fun to play while taking a crap? Maybe Pirates wasn't the best movie since Casablanca, but does it get more enjoyable when you drink rum? The life of the dork is about EXPERIENCES, and we WILL bring that to our audience.


Who I'd like to meet:



Critical Analysis (Brain Trust) Guidelines: If you would like to submit work that falls under this heading, it must meet the following criteria.

1. The work must first be reviewed and edited by a scholar (Masters Degree or higher). Attach a scan of the original with the scholar's notes to your submission. This means that the paper you submitted for your graduate or undergraduate thesis is acceptable, but your twelve-page rambling on why Firefly should never have been canceled does not. Submit the Firefly piece as a standard article.

2. The work must be submited in either .RTF or .DOC formats only to submissions@dorkgasm.com

3. The work must be at least five pages long, double spaced, in a 12 point Times New Roman font. We aren't paying anyone (yet?) so be glad this is our only length requirement.

4. The work must shed light on some subject germain to Dork-Culture. Comics, books, movies, videogames, and other games are all acceptable topics for analysis. Your tirade on why the birth control pill ruined rock and roll in the 1960s is probably not for us.

5.We don't care if it has already seen publication elsewhere, just make sure to tell us where.

6. We will only do the barest minimum in editing these works. Any submission not meeting these criteria will be ignored.
