Dotty Blue (Sweden) is now releasing her first album.
It’s called ”Perfect (free) choice” and refers to the choices we make in life.
“Every choice is a perfect one, seen in the light of personal growth.
Whether it’s consciously or sub-consciously, we all choose our way in life. With that knowledge, an awareness of our lives follows.
We can only learn. And I believe we are.”
/db.
Dotty Blue wonders and ponders upon life’s duality. This album invites you to follow her train of thought, mind and soul. “Perfect (free) choice” is released on her own label called ”DownRighteous Productions”. Just like life itself tends to vary in tempo, mood and grandiosity, Dotty Blue takes you along that same journey in her songs throughout this album. One song may at times only present you two piano keys, just to be followed by a more straightforward pop song.
With contribution from some great Swedish musicians “Perfect (free) choice” came about and was written, recorded and produced by Erika Iljero.
Some words from Dotty:
Allright, I will here try my best to give you a glimpse of what goes on in my mind and present you an idea of why I do what I do. The WHY’s and WHAT’s to Dotty Blue.
Well, writing songs has been a major part of my life for the past few years. Music’s been part of my life for as long as I can remember. There was a piano in the house I grew up in, my mom had a guitar and my dad had a set of drums down in the basement, so really, music was just always around, in one form or another.
During my childhood I did what most kids do, I sang in the school choire, I took some piano lessons and I also tried to learn a couple of chords on the guitar, but it wasn’t really til I started highschool that music entered my life on a more serious level. I got in touch with a vocal-coach that made me see I had something inside me and I felt encouraged to find ways to express that through my voice.
I started writing songs somewhere around 2003. Mostly, I think because life itself inspired me to. I think that is how it works for me. I write songs when I feel I have something to say. At that point in my life I felt as if I’d had experiences that I somehow needed to come to terms with but didn’t know how. Songwriting became a way of sorting my life out. And it still is! I sometimes try to write without any special thought or intention, attempts which usually just causes my trashcan to overflow…!
Anyway, I’m really happy that I made this album. It obviously means a lot to me and I am greatful to have worked with such talented and inspiring people throughout this whole process. Every song you hear on this album is written straight from my heart and I hope it will touch yours too!
This video was produced by Jonas Forslund and Maria Haglund at the College of Dalarna. The song is called "Placebos, band-aids and nice little words" and is written by Dotty Blue and Brian Hobbs.
Kjell Israelsson captured this on videotape at a gig at Café Thunströms. Dotty Blue and Henning Axelsson (Music of Glass) are performing a song they wrote together called "One Woman Show".
