The comic book hero Daredevil stands out in the Marvel universe because despite his limitations, he finds a way to excel through actions driven by a sense of no fear. Similar to his namesake, DOUBLE D has fought the trap with no fear and against all odds stands poised to achieve his dream.
DOUBLE D also known as "The Ruler" earned his name at a young age in the trailer park of Paradise Village in Tallahassee, Florida. “I was a young daredevil because I was never scared to try things so I was always in trouble getting into everything,” DOUBLE D fondly remembers. Although his home was not the traditional paradise labeled on the marquee, he did have a village of peers during his formative years. DOUBLE D recalls, “I grew up with a band of brothers named DJ TD, Ron Doe andPC. Our mothers grew up together, so eventually we became cool and formed a group named 850 Infantry. After awhile it became clear that we would have to put one of us forward and bring the rest of the crew along. So, we created our own label named U&I Entertainment and made me the first solo act.”
The brothers’ faith in DOUBLE D was soon proved to be well founded as DOUBLE D immersed himself in the music world. “I bought my own studio equipment and began my own production, mixing, singing, rapping, and learning about anything I could get my hands on.” Eventually, DOUBLE D released the “Road To Success” mixtape but, despite the hard work DOUBLE D remained true to his U&I Entertainment label name, Underground & Independent. It was not until he released the mixtape, “Trapaganza” that things began to turn around for the hungry budding star. DOUBLE D credits “DJ Clean & Venom first play[ing] my record on WANM 90.5 and DJ E-Zone played it on WWLD 102.3 then we began to get the hometown love.” Soon after, one of his friends and music enthusiast "Wood" introduced DOUBLE D to industry heavyweights TJ Chapman (CEO, TJ’s DJ’s & Co-Manager, B.o.B) and Ivan Rivera(Management for the Grammy Award winning producer crew, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. LEAGUE). Now, the future is bright for the multi-talented, DOUBLE D. “I want to do the best I can in music, get as many placements as I can and be the next superstar – not just the next rapper. I want to be that dude that surprises everybody with the music I make.”
DOUBLE D proudly reveals the secret to his courageous attitude, “I know if I take that first step, God will take care of the rest. I’ve tried all types of jobs from being a cook to a state job to the trap, nothing comes easy but I have to hustle to keep my dream alive. That’s why I gotta go full steam without thinking of the consequences; with no fear.”
The compilation/mixtape of the year will be dropping this weekend online and in the streets.
