Pre-debut
Ronny Mac and Jay met while attending High School in rural North Carlolina, when Jay Ease first began attending public schools. The duo initially wanted to be called "The Cyborg Wranglers", but because the name was already taken they later decided to use "Doublefist" based on finding "double" as synonym for "two" in a dictionary. Friends and schoolmates formed the nucleus of the Fist Family organization.
Doublefist remains unsigned and has no plans of future commercial success. The group’s efforts are primarily focused on providing quality music for its growing fan base.
Their full-length debut,Bad Acid in the Dirty South, was released 1 year after the group was formed. This initial effort is credited with laying the foundation for southern hip hop and is considered a classic by many hip hop aficionados. On this early material, both Jay Ease and Ronny Mac contrast lyrical content reflecting the lifestyles of blue collar workers with politically conscious material commenting on the status of the South.
The DoubleDown Story was Doublefist second album, released in the summer of 2006. The album exhibited more self consciousness and further solidified Doublefist as leaders in the Experimental Southern hip hop movement. The album helped the group earn more recognition among fans in the East and West coasts.
