I was born and live in Shanghai. When I was born, my parents found there are two swirls on my head, so they gave me a nickname – LuLu (because in Shanghai dialect, "swirl" is pronounced "lu".) Unfortunately, my parents divorced when I was very little, then my mother decided to take “lulu” as my formal name because coincidently her sir name is Lu, which is as same as the famous Chinese writer – Lu Xun and the famous Chinese ancient architect – Lu Ban. So, I become Lu Lu.

My husband and I both work in the export business; we export gifts, room décor to the States and Europe. We have a 10years-old handsome, smart boy. Both of my husband and I do not have the talent in singing, so it is not surprising that my son sings like a goose, but he can play the trumpet well.

I am not a beautiful woman. But many people think I look much younger than I am, and some people become very surprised when I told them I was already married. I think this is because I have a very young attitude towards life. One of my best friends once said to me: If one is ugly before 30, it is not his fault because his parents born him so, but if he still looks ugly after 30, that ugly is from his inward nature. Maybe she is right.

I think French is the most beautiful language in the world, so I learned French. I used to listen to a lot of French songs, but since I know Clay Aiken, who has become my favourite singer, I started to listen to more English songs.

I have read almost all the books of Murakami Haruki. I think he is a different talented writer who combines the music and the story so well. I also like those similes and metaphors in Murakami's book, no one can write in that kind of way like Murakami. Above all of these, that attracted me most is the living attitude of his heroes. Murakami knows that it is impossible for people to totally understand each other, so his heroes never try to seek that kind of "understanding". They always enjoy their loneliness in their own world, but they also never desert in face of a problem. They deal the problem in their own tactful, wise and stubborn way. Among the novels, I like "Dance, Dance,Dance" & "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" the best, and I especially like some of Murakami’s short stories – The silence, Honey Pie, A slow boat to China, The year of Spaghetti…
