Doubletop began when childhood friends Sean Aiken and Ben Cummins began playing acoustic guitar shows as "Tuku & Frotzi." While opening for a local jazz concert, the duo was introduced to drummer Nadim Shehab and they quickly convinced him to join. Bassist Chad Castillo completed the new lineup and the group became known as Doubletop. They started gigging around the University of Arizona in 2002. Right after the release of their anticipated freshman release, "Firewater", Ben left for Spain. The remaining three band members have continued to play shows and have morphed their sound to fit their individual personalities. Doubletop now explores a wide range of roots-rock styled groove and melody as they continue to expand the boundaries of modern pop music.
