Bio
Names after an epic New Zealand Fjord, Doubtful Sound is an ongoing project created in the late springs of 2009 by guitar and mandolin player and college nerd Michael Thigpen. The band plays shows with the little time its sole official member Michael has, in between classes and part time jobs. A very short tour up to British Columbia/Washington was done in the summer of 2010. The music of Doubtful Sound is sporatic to say the least. Michael writes songs that he has played very loudly and very quietly. Michael loves multiple flavors of folk, delta blues, skiffle, soul, post-rock, brit-pop, euro-pop, southern gospel and loves to pretend that all of these things somehow work their way into the music. The style of Doubtful Sound's music thusly folk-pop. Michael is on the move to find music to inspire, drawing new influence from dark corners of youtube and the like, on the lookout for new flavors of folk and styles of pop. The marriage of the two, despite the inevitable clamour and rough patches, make Doubtful Sound what it is and will be. Some of the songs can be heard on their first EP: A Doubtful Sounding EP Volume I. The style, however, can mostly be determined by you, dear listener ..!-END Display Comments-!.. ..!-START Import for Display; blogs into Div Overlay -! .. .. ..!-END Import for Display; blogs into Div Overlay -! .. -
