Welcome to Dougan Photography's myspace page. Dougan Photography is composed of works by me, Douglas (Doug) Lowe. I have had an interest in photography since I was quite young. I can remember playing with my father's old twin-reflex camera at our house in West-Milton, Ohio. I didn't start to develop myself as a photographer until high school, immediately after transferring from Milton-Union to Northmont High. There, I took Photography 101 and 102. It wasn't as much as I wanted to learn, but it was enough of a spark to light my fire for photography. After high school I became pre-occupied with other things and put photography to the side. Things came back around in 2002, with the birth of my son. Having him at home encouraged me to get back into photography. I wanted good photos of my son growing up, so I acquired a Sony point-and-shoot, for photos and video. I fell back in love with taking photos while using that camera. But, I was also being held back by it. There is only so much you can do with the limited control you have over a point-and-shoot camera. So, I began to save my money to buy my first, and current, D-SLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera. My Nikon D50 has been by my side and in my hands while I began my constant development of my craft. I have shot over 10,000 photos with it. One thing I try not to do as a photographer is to get myself in the practice of shooting only one type or style of photography. I shoot landscape, infrared landscape, portraiture (model and candid), and what I would call "experimental". I would say out of those styles, my specialty would be infrared landscape. Not many photographers shoot digital infrared, but I'm quite taken by it. I love the surreal images that it helps create.
