   About Doug Besterman
A three-time Tony Award winning arranger/orchestrator for theater and film, Doug has recently ventured into the exciting and challenging world of composing and is proud to present some of his recent work.

In 2007, Doug composed scores for the action/horror film Exit Speed (Sabbatical Pictures), and the independent short film Out Of Step. He also contributed original score and served as musical director/arranger for the musical reality television pilot Life As a Song (Scout Productions/Storyline Entertainment/CBS). Upcoming projects include a new ballet with choreographer Susan Stroman for the Pacific Northwest Ballet company, and a commission for the USMA Wind Ensemble. Doug also hopes to begin work on an exciting new musical theater project - stay tuned for updates!

Doug’s film/television credits include: The Producers (also music producer), Chicago, Mulan, Anastasia, Pocahontas, Lincoln, Cinderella, Annie, Geppetto, South Pacific, Superstar and last season's musical episode of Scrubs. Doug has arranged for many leading vocalists, including Christine Andreas, Toni Braxton, Beyonce Knowles, Barry Manilow, Mandy Patinkin, Barbra Streisand, and the Boston Pops Orchestra. As a songwriter, Doug’s music has been heard in the film The Punisher, TV shows Summerland and One Life To Live, and the musical Hats.

Broadway orchestration credits include: Young Frankenstein, Tarzan, Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002 Tony Award and Drama Desk Awards) The Producers (2001 Tony and Drama Desk Awards), Fosse (1999 Tony Award), Music Man (Drama Desk and Tony Award nominations), Seussical, Big (Drama Desk Award nomination), Damn Yankees (Drama Desk Award nomination), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Dracula. West End: Guys and Dolls. Off-Broadway: Weird Romance, Jack's Holiday, Johnny Pye and the Foolkiller, The Gifts of the Magi, Godspell; also in New York: King David, A Christmas Carol, and the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. Regional credits: Sister Act, I Sent A Letter To My Love, Paramour, Eliot Ness in Cleveland, Jeanne La Pucelle, Opal; also, the ballets But Not For Me and Double Feature for choreographer Susan Stroman.
