Originally from Texas, U.S.A., Doug began his career in various bands in the honky tonks around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of the Lone Star state, One in particular was the award winning band, Cheyenne, based in Ft. Worth, Texas.
When the band parted ways Doug and front man Brit Stokes made the move to Nashville, Tennessee and continued to perform together on songwriting demos and showcases around Nashville. Doug was also fortunate enough to perform with friend and songwriter Billy Yates which afforded him the opportunity to play the Grand Old Opry and the Midnight Jamboree at the Ernest Tubb Theatre.
Doug met his Aussie bride in Nashville and after the birth of their first son they relocated to Australia.
Since moving Down Under Doug has worked with some great Australian country artists, and the popular Aussie country/rock band Crakajak recruited Doug as their new drummer in January 2007. The band are currently performing around Australia.(www.crakajak.com)
After a career spent mostly behind the drums Doug made the move to stage front with the release of his self produced, debut cd; "Brand New Memory", in 2006. The seven song EP was dedicated to the memory of Doug's uncle Buddy Bruce, who penned songs for the likes of Red Sovine and Minnie Pearl. The cd has a very traditional sound to honour Buddy and his style of country which had a big influence on Doug from a young age.
Doug released his first full album, "All I Need" in late October 2008 and it has already generated 5 wins from 9 award nominations, plus rave reviews from country and mainstream media. All songs were written by Doug, with two co-writes with Harry Jon Nanos. The first single released from the album, "All I Need" was in the Hot Country Top 50 for 15 weeks, reaching number 20, and also seeing Doug placed as a top 20 finalist in the Americana section of the 12 Annual Unisong International Song Contest. The second single, "What I'm Drinkin' About" has just been released to radio in May 2009, along with a music video clip. Doug has been promoting the album around Australia in 2009 and is performing with his band in the USA in June..........................
