General	Wintertime peoplewatching because nothing is funnier than watching someone fall on the ice, except maybe watching someone fall on an escalator. Either way, humor is all around us. As a wise man once said "Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs AT you." In other words, world, stop crying. My sides hurt from laughing at you.
Music	Nothing beats the symphony of laughter -- and I'll be its conductor if you'll be the tuba. Nothing is more artful than a laughing tuba -- and, as the old saying goes, "You can tuba toothpaste, but you can't tuba fish."

Television	I only watch C-SPAN when I need material, which is always. For example: That "animal-human hybrid" reference in the President's state of the union address this year must have made Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) a little self-conscious. Ba-DUMP-bump.

Heroes	Theodore Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and yes, George W. Bush. Some may mock him but I respect a guy who has virtues and principles. Lyndon Johnson may have gotten more done (thanks to his congressional connections, and so on) but he was as unprincipled a guy as there ever was. I like my leaders to know who they are, and what they stand for even if they don't know where they are. I also like Dr. Stephen Hawking, because brilliance is an often overlooked virtue that we should all celebrate, and Emo Phillips for being a comic genius. What up, Emo? Here's one of his best jokes... and it may be the only joke written in HTML: A man walks into a help desk and says ".. classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" Angrily, the guy behind the counter looks up from his Star Trek Deep Space 9 blog, and says "codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab..version=6,0,29,0" width="500" height="85"> See? If you're not laughing, you're probably not working at a Help Desk somewhere. If you speak Vulcan, you probably get it.

john john	Oct 15 2008 3:57 AM Ok so just to update you all. Tonight I competed in the drum off finals for Roseville California Store Champion. Since the beginning of the competition, 30 drummers have competed. Tonight it came down to 6. I took 3rd place. Unfortunately only 2 drummers will move on to the next phase. I want to thank those that came out to the store to watch and thank you all for your support. Hopefully next year I can make it further.
john john	Oct 1 2008 3:19 PM Ok so here is the update I promised: September 23rd I competed in the first night of the 2008 Guitar Center Drum Off. Across the nation more than 6,000 drummers competed to move on to the next round. Roughly 1,200 won and moved onto the next round. I was one of those 1,200. I play on October 14th against the other winners of the first phase to see who will be crowned the Roseville store finalist. Winner of that plays in early November for regional finalist. Next will be district then grand finale. I still have a ways to go, but I will keep you all updated as it occurs. Thank you all for your support and keep the good lucks coming. John John the Drumist
john john	Aug 4 2008 8:33 PM glitter-graphics. com Hello each and every one of you. Just letting you know that once again it is that time of the year for the Guitar Center Drum Off. Last year over 6000 drummers competed. This year even a bigger turnout is expected. There is 4 phases involved. Phase one takes place on 3 consecutive Tuesday nights where each night 10 drummers will compete and only 2 drummers will be selected to go on to phase 2 (Last year I placed 3rd). Phase 2, all the top 2 drummers that won on their perspective Tuesday nights will compete against each other where only one drummer will win phase 2 and he/she will go onto phase 3. Phase 3 is in San Francisco where all the winners of phase 2 from around their portion of the United States will meet to compete for the top spot. The winner of that event will compete in the final phase in Los Angeles against 3 other drummers for the title of Drum Off Champion of 2008. Of course there are prizes, money and even vehicles to be won along the way. I am letting you know that I am signed up and competing on September 23rd, which is also my brother Duane’s birthday so if I lose, I’m blaming it on him. I will be playing at the Guitar Center in Roseville, Ca 95747. The competition starts at like 6 or 7 pm so wish me luck. I hope all of you beautiful people are having a great day. I will keep all of you posted as the contest progresses.

Phaedra	Apr 17 2008 2:13 PM There are times I really miss Rawlins, but I live semi-close to everything nowadays. Within only a few hours drive, I can hit Boston, Hartford, Montreal, or a 5 hrs drive...NYC. I'm up in NH now (still..again..was in WV and VA for a while), and spring is trying desperately to make an appearance..FINALLY! (LONGGG winter!) Been teaching theatre to kids for about 15 years now, which I love. Still get on stage in the summer, but working more and more with kids. Getting ready to take a trip for vacation, which I desperately need too...LOL Glad to see that things are going well! Keep in touch! P.
