Hi. As of this writing, I have just returned from the island of Guadeloupe, where I immersed myself in gwoka music. It was a tremendous musical experience - crawling inside the groove of a rich Afro-Caribbean tradition; learning from the heavies that helped shape it. My musical approach and my life in general are richer for the experience. . . . . . ANYHOW ...
If we haven't already met, I'm a musician based in the NYC area. Percussion of all kinds is my voice - my life, really! I love going to work, and my work is a wonderful mixed bag. Briefly, the CRED list includes: HOUSE - Roger Sanchez, Kerry Chandler, Dennis Ferrer; JAZZ - Gary Burton, Dave Brubeck; BROADWAY - Tarzan, The Lion King, Brooklyn; JINGLES - Miller Lite Beer, ESPN's X'treme Games, The New York Knicks; COMPOSING - The Young and the Restless, Burn Notice, One LIfe to Live; POP - Burlap to Cashmere, Entrain. . . . . . . .
I play percussion for the orchestra of IN THE HEIGHTS, the 2008 Tony winner for best musical. Broadway, baby! . . . . . . .
I also do some producing and engineering. And dig this - I've invented a few instruments that LP and Toca will be producing and selling soon. God willing, they will become part of your batterie. :)

Hey Doug! Things have been good - I've been doing some more acting work lately so that's been fun...hope all is well with you and a good 2008 on the way :-)
Hey Doug! We met in Boston back in 90-something. It was you, me and maybe 5 other percussionists who played every show on-campus. Though I learned so much from you I wouldn't dare to say we were colleagues.
I remember playing a show where you weren't playing, but singing a couple of songs (which, come to think about it, may have been a fair distribution of talent: while you are certainly a more gifted and dedicated percussionist than I ever was, you DON'T want to hear me sing!).
As you may see on my page here and my personal site, I'm mostly devoted to Film Scoring and TV music now, though I still play the ocasional gig (on drums, which remain my main instrument).
Hey Doug! It's been a long time indeed. I was in NY about a year ago; but it was a fast visit. Next time I'll find you there. Lets keep in touch, man! Best wishes, Jair
Querido Doug!!!! I'm so proud of you!! Glad to hear your music. Love Always and best of luck! Beijos Vanessa STAY IN TOUCH! vanessafalabella@terra.com.br
