  • Bio

Doug Ingle (born September 9, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.) Organist, Vocalist and primary composer for the band "Iron Butterfly". Ingle's father, a church pianist, introduced him to music at an early age. Doug moved from his native Nebraska within three months of his birth to the Rocky Mountains and after spending his impressionable years as a mountain child moved to San Diego, California. Album work featured on Heavy, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Ball and Metamorphosis. Most famously, he authored the band's biggest hit, the epic seventeen-minute "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." Ironically, when he originally wrote the song, he had not intended it to run seventeen minutes long.[1] The album and subsequent single release of the title track vaulted Ingle and the band to International prominence, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" received the first Platinum Record sales award in the history of the Recording Industry and became a landmark record in psychedelic rock.

An explanation on the first selections that have been presented thus far. As you may have noticed, each of the first nine songs are VERY SLOW indeed!!! Every now and then this kind of song seems to be the only tempo that fits. Each of these melodies have acted as good friends during certain events in my own life and as a result I have chosen to omit their respective titles so as not to preempt your own associative experience. We have all lived important lives and it is in this spirit that I encourage you to establish your own thoughts and associations regarding each theme. Please keep in mind that the collective sum of the nine selections offered here were conceived over a period of thirty years. Let's do the math! (30 years divided by 9 songs. This equals 1 "VERY SLOW SONG" once every 3.33 years or 1 every 1,215 days.) In closing, this first chapter in another new beginning, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your kind support over the years. You are the people that I have always loved and always will.

    Hi all,
Before too much ground gets covered here I would like to extend a very special thanks to Mr. Doug Parry. Doug took it upon himself to set up this entire space prior to even placing a call to me to see if I would be interested in such a thing. I have had both the pleasure and honor of knowing him for over thirty-seven years and counting. He has quite a history in the music business and has worked directly with many household names.(too numerous to mention here.) Doug is very familiar with much of my un-published work and has suggested that I seriously consider making some of it available via this format. This is a notion that has always appealed to me and yet I knew very little (nothing) regarding the means by which one might go about such a task. I think he has known what is in my heart all along! How can one say no to such enthusiasm, belief & action? Thank you again Doug for all of your moral support over the years! It is in a spirit of Humility, Respect & Gratitude that I commit to the challenge that you have brought before me.
    Always your friend, Doug Ingle
