I grew up in South Carolina, so my influences are wide and varied. As a child; it was Beach Music, Country, and Classic Rock (or just Rock then). But it wasn't just rock, it was James Taylor, Jim Croce, The Eagles, CSN, CCR, The Little River Band, Southern Rock, Firefall, and finally Elvis, Delbert, and Willie! And my family has always been a fan of the TV, so you got the The Lawrence Welk Show, The Rat Pack (Dean Martin specificly, loved the Golddiggers!), Andy Williams, Pat Boone, Bing, The Smothers Brothers, The Hudson Brothers, Mac Davis, Hee Haw (loved that all jugg band), The Osmonds, my first concert, what?, Sesame Street, The Sound of Music, the Grease Soundtrack, and then there was the Church singin' and old Gospel. In the eighth grade, I discovered AC/DC while riding the Mind Scrambler at the Myrtle Beach Pavillion, they "shook me all night long" and ever since! I liked metal bands, the hair bands, the classic rock, the pop rock, and the country through high school (hey it was Greenville, SC in the early 80's). Next, Clemson University. Who would have thought Clemson, SC would have changed my musical life? But it did! For it was here that I discovered 80's Brit and European pop; The Cure, The Smiths, General Public, INXS (Aussies), The Housemartins, The Clash (OK anti-pop, but pop). Then there was REM, Drivin' n' Cryin', The Connells, Bob Marley, The Dead, early Widespread, The Indigo Girls, and many others. Man I wish I had my old mix tapes! It was also in college where I sang in public for the first time (I was "Hypnotized", no really I was). The Georgia Satellites, "Keep your hands to yourself". After graduation, it was a trip to Australia, where I was introduced to Jimmy Barnes and American, Steve Earle, for the first time. "Love Shack" was huge there during that time. I gotta go right now, but I'll be back to let you know what happened next.
Hooks, harmonies, and clever words are the trademark of Doug Jones’ first solo effort, “Doug Jones Everybody, Doug Jones”. The former lead singer and contributing songwriter for the SC band, Cravin’ Melon (Mercury Records), Jones enlists the help of many of his musical friends. Mark Bryan (Hootie and the Blowfish) produces and plays on the project as well as fellow Hootie percussionist and Melon drummer, Gary Greene. Other players include Hank Futch (The Blue Dogs-bass), Matt Mayes (Jupiter Coyote-banjo), and Jonathan Williams (Pat Mcgee Band-keyboards). Recorded at Bryan’s Stone Point studio in Awendaw, SC, “Doug Jones Everybody,…” takes the listener on a musical journey from mountain to beach and places in between. Doug’s songwriting and characteristic soulful voice have never been better than on this dynamic batch of tunes, leaving you with songs stuck in your head for days. A slight departure from the pop country rock of Cravin’ Melon, Jones’ solo material is what he calls “coffee outhouse music”. Philosophical fertilizer for your soul, the ’08 release “Doug Jones Everybody, Doug Jones” gives every emotion a chance to stir and every toe a reason to tap. Éclat in Éflat!

We totally enjoyed the concert in Farmville this past weekend. It was our first time hearing you guys.... we left the concert newly converted 'Melon-Heads'. Have a great week!
OK... so what time do you guys play exactly? Your page says 4pm, CM page says 1pm, and the Dogwood Fest page says 9pm..??? If it's at 9, we will NOT have the kids... we have to go to bed by 7pm or else they are NOT cute after that hour or the next day! Nonetheless, we'll be there
OMG... can't wait to see you next Saturday! We might have the kiddies with us, don't know yet for sure! Just look for a big belly with 3 other magnets attached!
