'Shimmer and Glow' is the first recording with new band members Simon Casier on bass, and Christophe Claeys on drums. Gertjan played the piano on a beautiful Steinway at the Bijloke, Ghent, and he sang lead and most of the backing vocals, except a few that Sem did. The strings at the end are played by Eline Duerinck (This is where my little saturn sleeps), who played cello, and Patricia Vanneste (Balthazar), who was patient enough to do all the violin parts. Gyuri Spies did the mastering.

In 'Sally', you can hear Billie Bentein (she's gonna be famous) and Jinte Deprez (Balthazar) singing the backing vocals.
'The Kitchen Table' was recorded at Ghosttown Studio by Geert Vanbever (Rudy Trouvé), except the piano, which we recorded at the Bijloke, in Ghent. Senne Guns (Tomán) was sitting behind the piano, Simon Segers (Members Of Marvelas) played drums, and you can hear Simon on bass.

'That's What I Want', 'Misunderstood' and 'I don't think you're good to have around' were recorded live in De Bijlokestudio, Ghent.

Douglas Firs is Gertjan Van Hellemont (°1987), zanger, gitarist en liedjesschrijver met
een voorliefde voor de popmelodieën van The Beatles, singer-songwiters als James Taylor
en Ryan Adams, de country-blues van North Mississippi Allstars en de Back to the
Future-trilogie. Al is dat iets anders.
Maar Douglas Firs is ook Gertjans rock-‘n-rollband met Christophe Claeys (drums,
percussie, zang), Sem Van Hellemont (toetsen, zang) en Simon Casier (bas, zang).

Douglas Firs verzorgde de support act voor o.a. Roland, Elliott Murphy, Tim Easton,
De Mens, Anton Walgrave (Het Depot), Balthazar (N9) en in mei 2009 vroeg Milow hem om
te openen in een uitverkochte AB, Roma en Vooruit.
In afwachting van zijn debuutalbum werden een aantal van z’n songs geselecteerd
op de website www.vi.be en gedraaid op Studio Brussel en Radio 1.
